Hydraulic cooler on my CK25

I changed to the flex hoses last visit to the tractor...I think it took all of about 20 minutes with proper tools.

OK, I'm back. Have 383 hours on the CK25 and the hydraulic cooler, the 3rd one, is leaking. I'm really frustrated. I have contacted the dealer and he is looking into having Kioti cover replacing it. I really have better things to do than replacing the cooler. Hope others are not having the problems I am.

What the ....?

And you have the new flex lines, too?

Is the cooler suffering metal fatigue in the same place every time?

The 3 CKs I bought new have never had cooler problems, and they all
have hard lines.

Hydraulic oil coolers are usually on the low pressure return part of the
oil circuit and don't have to do a lot to lower the temps. My JD
project tractor's cooler does not even have fins.

In your shoes, I would be frustrated, too.

After one cooler replacement on my CK30 I inspected under the tractor and noted quite a bit of vibration in the hydraulic lines running from the front to the back of the tractor. I zip tied thick rubber blocks inbetween the lines thus stabilizing the vibration in the lines. Don't know for sure if this helped but I have not developed any leaks over the past three years with the new cooler.

The leak is in the bottom area of the cooler. I just operate the tractor and expect it to function. It looks like it is in the 1st half inch from the bottom.
Did not hear from the dealer today. Will call tomorrow to see what is happening.

My CK25HST came with the rubber lines but developed the "moist" cooler leak at about 150 hours. I was told it wasn't covered under warranty since I'm out of the 2-year period. Same situation of the bottom third getting oily enough to collect all kinds of dust/dirt on the cooler and radiator screen behind it but never drip. I was told the replacement cooler was around $175 so at this point I just have been cleaning it when it gets bad. I've even considered fabricating an oil cooler screen similar to the radiator screen that can be removed and cleaned off. At this point I'm going to put my money towards the Optima battery since I'm starting to get the battery rot on the hold-down and tray area underneath. Can't be good sucking that through the radiator and if the cooler is $175 I can only imagine what the radiator costs. I thought about trying to have it repaired but didn't like the idea of taking the chance on contamination of the HST system. What have you others paid for the cooler without the lines?

Thanks,

1wheeler1

So I just checked my ck30hst's cooler and it is wet at the bottom as shown in the pic. I guess this is the beginning of the end?

About 140 hrs.

Since this is sort of a battery/oil cooler thread, using a Battery Mat with any kind of battery eliminates most problems: http://www.batterymat.com/ They are available at battery stores and ebay etc.

Yikes! It can't be doing a very good job of cooling plugged up like that. I have a Kubota L2800 that is similar in size to the CK25/30 albeit about 400 lbs lighter. The cooler on it measures 13" across and it has an exra row of cooling fins for comparison. They do look similar though.

It doesn't look good, Mike.

I think that Don is onto something regarding the vibration of the hardlines
that connect to the cooler. That potential cause SHOULD go away if you
install the flexible hoses.

I noticed years ago that my 05 CK30's hard lines under the engine would
vibrate and move what looked like a full inch at certain engine speeds. We
would call that a "natural resonant frequency" in physics. I tied them off
to avoid any problems. So far the dreaded cooler leak has not hit me.

But someone said above that they put in a new cooler AND flex lines and the same thing happened, the cooler leaked!! Sounds like a cooler problem.

Hmmm..maybe if I seal up the loader cross beam, eliminate the oil cooler and run the oil thru the beam...

ha ha
