Hydraulic Filter cap on 3320

I'm was planning to change the hydraulic fluid on my 3320 today but I can't seem to get the cap off of the canister that contains the fluid. I've tried a fabric oil filter wrench, no luck. Any tricks to gettin off this about 6" diameter round cap unscrewed?

I hate to bump this- but I still can't get the thing off. I talked to the dealer, they weren't aware of any trick to get it off. Maybe I'll get a pipe wrench big enough for the diamater. I tried solvent and removing any spray over paint, still no luck. Has anyone else had problems removing one of these? It's the lid on the canister the hydraulic filter fits into on the 3020 series (see attatchment).

Hi anojones,

I found myself in the same predicament as you & elected to just drain it through the plug & leave the cannister as is... I'm sure a giant pipe wrench will move (or crush!) something. Is it painted into place they way some of the other sections seem to be?

Come 400 hours I'll need to figure it out also, so I look forward to hearing what you come up with...

Glad to know I'm not the only one- I'd hate to hang onto that $75 dollar filter I bought, but maybe I'll just change the fluid for now.

Well for those who have had, and may have the same problem in the future. I used a 16" Channel Lock wrench- worked like a charm. It took me awhile to find one that big locally, but Sears had it. I think a chain wrench might work as well, but couldn't find one around here.
