Hydraulic Splitter from Tractor Remote

Just curious how everyone else keeps their rear remote engaged. I've tied my old JD 4010 off to the back of tractor with twine.

I'd like a less primitive way to do it on my new T2410. Just lookin for ideas.

You know how your lift lever has a sliding adjustment stop on it, I wonder why something like that is not incorporated into the remote valve handle area?

I guess bungees it will be. Maybe just color coordinate?

Could you perhaps add a detent to your remote valve. They also make a valve that detents in both directions. If you used cables for the remotes, you could add a cable lock.

Do you have the T2410 already? Maybe order a remote with detent as an option? Or do it as an add-on, like J_J mentioned.

My Bobcat came with one remote installed, and it detents in both directions. Worked perfectly for a log splitter this fall.

Didn't know they offered detents but since I already have my tractor it would be an add on. I didn't read the manual on it but in just trying to move valve handle I didn't notice any way to keep it in place fwd or bwd.

I'll read manual and see what is up.

Here is a solution to the problem.

If it doesn't have a detent, you have to hold it back with bungee.

You could use the selector valve to route fluid to the detent valve, and all fluid will go through the detent valve and back to tank/reservoir. Wen not using the detent valve, select position 2for normal operation.

Here is another option. 12 v diverter valve, before the rear remotes. This could be a dedicated circuit for hyd motors. In the non energize position, the fluid goes to one circuit, and when energize, the fluid goes to another circuit.

The cheapest, easiest, and IMHO best option is the bungee cord. Using a bungee, you are far less likely to leave a diverter in the wrong position, leave a valve spool locked in detent, or otherwise create a situation where the log splitter is detached from the tractor and the hydraulic system is sending all the pump flow over the main relief valve. Not something that is healthy for any open center system pump.

I use either the power beyond circuit or bungee the valve controlled remotes. either way works just fine and will not stress the hyd pump or valves.

Power beyond is nice, just be sure to fix the location of the lift before you try to use your FEL.

I generally now just go with the bungee as it means less dicking around with the connections, chipper OR splitter!

For my JD 3520, the dealer provided a small metal chain with hooks at either end that can be placed between the PTO selection lever and the 3rd SCV handle or, to reverse the oil flow, between the sliding limiter of the rear PTO and the handle. I haven't lost it yet and it works just like your bungee. Pity there doesn't seem to be any possibility of a detente system.

JJ, I would have to ask dozens more questions if I went your route with the links you provided. And I dont want to wear out my welcome on your hydraulic knowledge on this thing. I have a whole nother project in mind for you if you'll remember back a bit concerning my need for building a hydraulic powered mower for my vineyard alleys.

Any way, I was curious about tying that valve off and feel comfortable just using the bungee.

My "primitive" Chinese tarctor with standard rear remotes are controled with an open center valve with detents both ways. I assumed they would all be setup this way. Just plug in your hoses and control from there. Easy for a logsplitter or backhoe hookup. No bungees needed
