The hydrostatic transmission in my Simplicity Legacy (not xl) seems to be developing more slop at 400+ hours. For example when the rear tires drop into a slight depression there is a pause before the tractor continues forward, etc. It seems more noticable now than when it was new. Is this condition normal? I've looked at the main drive belts, and they seem to be still matched well, and tight. I just bought a new hydro filter, and was planning on changing that...... Any ideas, or thoughts would be appreciated! In 4 hours of mowing time it can get a little "old"!
Thanks,
Chuck

Check for wear in the linkages to the hydrostatic pump. It is normal for these to start wearing out at the 400-500 hour mark, and sometimes they can be adjusted to compensate for the wear.

Thanks for the input! The fluid level is good, and the belts from the engine to the drive shaft are good. I had not looked at the linkage, but will today. Thanks!

Fordlords,
There was a small adjustment that was preventing the high/low range selector from fully engaging. I corrected that, and all seems to be well in the Simplicity world now. Thanks for the tip!
