I did get the back beam [first part] in place and that corner post cut off. I will double up that 2x8, but will also have a wall section under it, so it will support the roof just fine.

This shot gives an idea of the size of the little loft area [appx 12x12]

Henro,

It is obvious to me that you have too many nice tools, and too much time on your hands. You ought to give some of both to your deserving fellows out there who have less--like me!!!! Seriously, a fine job on this shed, if you want to call it that--but to me a shed is something to put a lawnmower in. You could fit a bradley fighting vehicle in that baby!

Good job on your project! It's alot of work but when its all done you get to stand back and enjoy what you accomplished.
The B2910 looks like a good machine. I think that is what I am going to move up to after the BX22.
Keep those pics coming. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

19th VA and jibota,

Thanks for the nice thoughts! I keep telling my wife it sure would be nice to have some descent tools...sorta like using that tractor sure is hard work kinda thing... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Got the back beam bolted in and the rest of the rafters in place yesterday and ended up getting the plywood on and the roofing felt on.

Here's a shot before the plywood went on...

View from insisde. If you look at the old roof rafter above the new double 2x8 you can get an idea how much I had to jack up the roof to align it with the new one on that low side.

That notch in that 2x4 rafter was cut so I could slide the new 2x8 in and set it level with the high end of the old shed wall. Had I thought about jacking up the roof before that, I would not have cut that notch in the 2x4 rafter. As it stands, there is another 2x4 nailed to that rafter on the far side, so the notch does not make any real difference.

The span is only 6 feet so the 2x4 rafters should be fine for the snow load here, and they give a couple more inches of head clearance in the loft area. Every inch is valuable there...

Plywood is on now and the roof is covered with felt.

This is a big moment here...rain will now stay [for the most part, wind can still blow some in...] where it belongs.

OUTSIDE!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Next key step will be getting the shingles on.

I broke down and ordered a roofing nailer. I will be doing the roof on our house as well in the near future...so it will pay for itself in the wear and tear it saves on my hammer, and the arm connected to it!

I suppose I better start thinking of doors to keep the snow out...what I am considering is a double track, with two sliding doors, which would allow about full opening on one side at a time, or partial opening on both sides... I have eight feet clearance on both sides under that long beam.

Spent half of the day running down materials...first two hours visiting two different Home Depots getting the drip edge and roof apron I wanted, among other things, and then a second trip back to one of them to get 9 square of shingles [27 bundles]. Glad my van is a 1 ton, as the shingles weighed a little over 2000 lbs I estimate. Sure dropped the rear bumper a bit.

Got smart and asked my brother to help me move the shingles. It actually turned out to be a piece of cake. Easiest job on the whole project! I couldn't believe it, when looking back on my history of lugging bundles up two floors, on my shoulder while climbing a ladder...

The home depot guy sat the palet right inside my van with his fork truck, and we just lifted them out together and "I" carried five at a time down in "my" loader... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Here is a shot at the start of the second trip.
