Did you read the article???? Obviously not. If you listen to ebay, they do. If you listen to anyone other that ebay, they don't.

Sounds like you have some sour grapes for them that nothing is going to change. Don't be mad because they are successful.

I have no sour grapes, believe me. I am just stating pure and simple undisputable fact. Ebay is the largest single seller of stolen goods in the world, period. There is not a pawn shop in the world that can motch their stolen goods dealings dollar for dollar.

As a mechanic that has had tools stolen, I know from what many cops tell me. And that is to look for them on ebay. Did I find them there? No. I didn't even look. I know where they went and thanks to our justice system, my hands were tied. Going to jail is not my idea of revenge.

With over four million transactions a day three thousand sounds very insignificant. They make every effort to curtail illegal activities on their site.

Actually, ebay pretty much do nothing to curtail illegal activities, unless someone complains before the auction ends in which case they remove the offending item without penalty to the seller.

The larger the seller (more transactions, more dollars for ebay) the less likely that ebay will even bother to investigate any complaints.

The vast majority of e-bay users are honest people looking for something legitimate and or unusual.

Yes, this definatley USED to be the case. The worm has turned however. You can walk up to anyone on the street, and they will be able to tell you a story of someone in their family who was ripped off on ebay.

I have made alot of money on e-bay stock as well as being a vendor. (99.8% approval rating) Sounds like you have some sour grapes for them that nothing is going to change. Don't be mad because they are successful.

I'm glad you have had a good experience. Ebay have banned all payments except Paypal and COD here (Australia) to try and stem number of illegal transactions occuring. The police for the most part don't care, or can't do anything. I was at my local station the other day updating my contact details, and while I was there 2 people came in to complain about ebay fraud.

Don't even get me started on ebay's rating system, and why it doesn't work. you can google "ebay feedback blackmail" if you're interested.

I wonder how many parts from Montana will fit a farmtrc. When I looked at the two close up it seemed to me like they were pretty darn close.

Obviously there is no pawn shop doing 4,400,000 transactions a day. There will always be a few miscreants that take advantage of a situation. To tag them as an evil enterprise is unfair IMO. To get an accurate picture of their stolen goods throughput you have to calculate on a percentage basis as there is no other entity of comparable size and sales volume. In doing so you will find that stolen goods is not their bag. E-bay itself is NOT the seller of these stolen goods, they only provide the electronic forum for the ACTUAL seller. The true EVIL is the INTERNET! It provides the feeling of anonymity that brings out all kinds of criminals, identity thieves and ****** predators to name a few. It's the nature of the beast.

I don't know if this is my first post or not

I've been on this site lurking for a long time. Last year, I bought a piece of crap Long Tractor. The labor to get it started, alone, cost me more than a monthly payment on a new unit.
This week, I traded that hunk of junk on a JD 5603, with a 542 FEL, and 8 foot heavy disc unit.

I was asked by the dealership if I wanted a Radio, and I demured, as my son in law teaches people how to pimp their ride.

Well, today, it was Pimp My Trac! We put a Pioneer system in the cab, and it glows JD Green!

But the Coup De Gras, was we put in a CompuStar alarm system in the tractor. If someone even opens the door, the alarm will have them running for the fenceline. That thing has about 5 or 6 back up Gotcha's to it. Have a JD Key? No good if the alarm's set. Put up with the alarm, and press the clutch? No go. Kick the tires? Yikes!

Really like the remote start, so when I'm opening the gate to the property, I can have the air conditioning cooling the cab. And the remote tells me what the temp is in the cab!

I HATE thieves, and I don't put it past anyone to try and take avantage of me.

And oh, yeah, LOVE the 5603!

I never tagged Ebay as an evil enterprise. If stolen goods were not their enterprise, they would do more to prevent the sale of such, so says every major law enforcement agency in the country. And you are correct, Ebay doesn't sell stolen goods, they are just an accomplice.

When you referred to them as "Evil-Bay" in one of your previous posts, that infers you consider them to be evil. And once again, stolen goods are not their "enterprise", just a very miniscule, unfortunate byproduct. How would you suggest they eliminate all stolen goods from being listed? I'm sure they would be interested in some good suggestions. Also, check out "e-bay Government Relations" this will give you an idea of how they are making every effort to eradicate stolen goods from their site.
