You didn't answer my question... I'm just curious if I'm out of line if I look at the clerk like an idiot because they can't figure out basic math (simple job function IMO to hand out change). Please keep in mind, I've worked in fast food when I was younger, and know the pressure of "new idiot on the register!" LOL

That depends if you're looking at them like an idiot or if you're looking at them like they are an idiot. :laughing:

Just grin and bear it. Every old person we ever met thought we were idiots, too. It's a tradition.

I swear lots of stores must be making huge profits selling bags.

I admit getting irritated every time the cashier ask me if I'd like a bag, especially if my purchase is something simple and small like a package of gum.

The latest fad around here is that plastic bags are being banned.
Ever carry wet produce in a paper bag?
or meats that leak juices?

Then some stores openly state that your re usable bag is not admitted if it bears a trademark or logo that is not that store's brand.

Stopping off at the gas station to buy smokes. The cashier ain't behind the counter, she's effing off by the candy isles, lazily sorting out the candy or whatever...but she does see me. I give it 10 seconds before I go "The sign out front says SPEEDWAY!"

I get an attitude problem when I waiting in line, as are the other people, at say at a parts store, and the person at the desk stops to answer questions from someone calling on the phone.

...that's when I wished I carried a cell phone. I'd call from the line to loudly ask MY question as soon as they hung up. Perhaps the rudeness of answering and "butting ahead" would be more apparent....but everybody would probably take their anger out on ME!
As it is... I just say aloud (to no one in particular) "Gee, guess I should of called to go to the front of the line."

One Son is the Parts Manager at a dealership. Another Son works the counter at that parts department. If they are busy at the counter and the phone rings they answer and can you hold please? and lay the phone down. When they are caught up at the counter they pick up the phone. They don't use "hold". They want the phone customer to hear everything going on at the parts counter.

I remember seeing drive-through cold beer stores in Ohio.

I will never forget trying to buy beer in a DRY part of OHIO. Walking through a grocery store, wth people looking and you could hear them saying "They want to buy BEER". Got it at some off the Interstate gas station instead.
