Along with everyone else posting, car outside, tractor protected. The car has weather seals and will only last 10 years or so before it's scraped. Tractors will go 20 to 30 years.... or more

my hay equipment was new more than 40 years ago. Its been protected from the weather. It still does the job.

The real issue is not of tractor vs. car, but when does the kid move out? I'd tell her to park out side and a little bit further away every month. Otherwise, you'll next be hosting her 'friend's and maybe worse. Sorry to sound cruel and unfair and mean and all that, but a tractor will outlast all of her family ties. It also make it easier to send her out on her own. Then when she 'grows up', she will have her own place and visit often, with pride and honor. Worked very well for me. The expectation was you kids will get yourself educated, employed and become productive taxpayers. And you won't be living the good life off of my IRA while I'm still around.

Or end up like my neighbor....she moved out....then moved back in, but brought another mouth to feed in the form of a new born. I really hope I raised my son better then to screw up his life then to do something like that.....but when mommy and daddy are a net ready to catch little johnny when he screws up....does he ever learn anything....NOPE.

Child does not own the house I do. I tell my son it is not his room it is MY room, you are just living there....you don't own any of it. Yes it is hard parenting but guess what the world is a hard place. It is much better to fall hard on your butt at 17 then it is at 27-37.......

Wait, what was the question? How could he protect his tractor if he had to store it outside? Without worshiping the tractor I still think it needs to be under a roof more than a car does. Forget the tarp and have the car parked outside. Dad - you might be too nice some times,,

Plus one on this comment. The sun is a killer. It took out a couple hydraulic hoses on my tractor before their time. I'd spend some money on a nice tarp.

My son and daughter had cars that remained OUTSIDE. Dad and Mom got the garage. One of the perks of being old, is plowing an open driveway without having to weave around snow covered cars. We have 1 car, 1 tractor and they both enjoy the garage's dryness. I even have room for my small toys.

It might be worth checking with a company that makes boat covers. They could make a custom cover to fit your tractor. I had one made for my log splitter that sits outside and it was money well spent. You could specify exactly what parts to cover. With a custom cover you might not have to strap it down.
