I-match bushing question

I just got my imatch. It came with two bushings. These simply increased diameter of lower pins and were only as wide as the imatch lower hook. No overlap or lateral room. I used my normal snap ring to secure them and it worked fine on the rotary cutter.

However . . .as my JD ballast box (with imatch logo) is slightly narrower (1/2 inch or so) the imatch hooks slightly cover the pin holes. I therefore can't use the snap rings to secure sideways motion and can see a good bump could send one of the lower pins dropping off the hook.

The JD literature online I've seen shows a "bushing" that covers the vertical pin holes and has a shoulder as well. Effectively widening the hook area and keeping the implement from sliding off. See the link below . . .

My dealer says he doesn't know what I mean, and the simple bushing is all I should need.

Does anyone know if I should have recieved the more robust bushing pictured with a spring pin to secure it?

You should not be using the snap link/rings to hold the bushings on the implement lift pins. The set of bushings you obtained should have a pair of roller pins with them. The roller pins go through the holes in the bushings and lift pins on the implement. The roller pins are tapped in with a hammer and will be flush with the outside surface of the bushings once they are tapped in. This is what holds the bushings in place on the implement. Since the roller pin is flush with the surface of each bushing, they won't interfere with the I match. Each implement will need a set of bushings/roller pins and they stay permanently with the implement. JD dealer or farm store (TSC) should have extra bushings for sale. About $25 per set.
Don't quote me, but the roller pins are about 7/16" diameter and 1.5" in length. The length of the roller pin is the same diameter of the bushings.

That makes complete sense. I understand totally what you mean about the roller pins . . and that's what I expected for my $30 a set!! In Canada, TSC only has basic bushings. Not like you describe. And my JD dealer has no idea what I'm talking about.

So the bushings you're describing are quite wide (like in the link) and have a shoulder as well? Or is the shoulder not necessary? It's strange . . 1 set of the simple/narrow bushings was zip tied and wrapped on the imatch when delivered to the dealer. So JD canada is a bit out to lunch, it seems.

I hope he comes back with a new part number . .because as it stands . .i'm stuck.

These are what i use on my balist box. the ones that come with the imatch . on my box blade had to much slop side to side. i made the dealer give me another pair. and i cut them down a bit . so thay just fit in the slots. so i got 2 sets of bushings in each side of my box blade and its a good fit....

I've heard they are available at TSC, but don't know the part numbers. TSC I think sells Speco Quick Hitch, or something like that, but the bushings do work according to folks I've read about on our forum.

I've inundated the dealer with all the reference material. Funny, I called 2 others in the area and they also had NO IDEA what i was talking about. I guess they haven't sold any imatchs up here. What a mess!! And the Deere site says to refer to the dealer for technical info! As if.

My dealer is the same way with some things. They are great people, but pretty uninformed about a lot of stuff. I do my own research before even going in there. They are used to me coming in with all my part numbers in hand. I very recently went through the iMatch thing also, so know what you are going through. This forum is such a wealth of information, and folks helping each other out.

Yikes! My dealer thinks he found the bushing sleeve and send a small schematic of the LX5 cutter which shows a bushing sleeve and roll pin.

He's quoting $61 per bushing, plus $3 for the roll pin. So nothing came with the imatch . .and I will have to pay almost $130 per set ??!!!!!

What?!! Does that sound right?

Would anyone be interested in quoting me 2 sets of sleeves w/pin from TSC and I'll pay you a profit and postage etc on paypal?

You are right Mx. I just checked with my dealer yesterday and they want $60 Can per bushing. So I'm also interested in someting from TSC.

Edit: we are talking about CAT I size - the pins on your implements are CAT I?
I know there are different size internal bushings for either CAT I or CAT II.

Thanks again. You're right . .the speeco kit part number you added is a good solution as it is for two w/two pins. And yes, I have all cat 1 implement pins. I can get basic bushing (to increase size from I to II etc.) if the sleeves' internal diameter is too large.

I found a JD part number PM03015 on the US JD part site that comes with roll pins for $9.95 each. So that equates to $20/per set. That actually sounded a bit cheap for a JD official part?? I sent an angry note to my dealer with that info anyway, and we'll see what he says.

I really appreciate the help. Don't go out of your way, but if you happen to be in TSC I'd like to know the price for a set. I suppose I could always drive to Watertown or Buffalo, NY, if I had to.

That part number appears to be likely what came with my hitch. It works with my cutter but it is not suitable for the ballast box. The hitch hooks rest on the retention pin holes, therefore the bushing would slide off and/or one side of the ballast box will fall.

Use roll pins that crush into the hole and stay put. They will not stick out on either side. This method will cost you approx $20 per item to have them i-match ready without the need to swap various bushings and adapters back and forth between items. Remember that the i-match will solidly lock onto the bushings, not the implement. Once it is holding the bushings tight, you are good to go.

The big ones with the fat end are nice, but they cost $30+ per set depending on whether you buy them at TSC or JD. the one advantgae they do have is that there are TWO holes, so they are more flexible as to mounting. They can be slid outwards if necessary by about 1/2" See the previous pix.
