I agree with sending it back. But...if you want to fix it yourself, cut the top lip off, fit the QC at the bottom and face so it fits tight, re-fit the cut off lip and reweld. A bunch of cutting and grinding but it's the way I'd do it.................Mike

Just send Titan your pictures and maybe they will let YOU scrap it. Nobody knows more about ill-fitting SSQA adaptors than Titan.

I thought about sending it back but the way I see it I have little to gain. It would be on principle and a hassle. And if they are as bad as jmc says who knows what the next one would be like. I am not really out much money if any as I couldn't buy the steel to make one for any less than I paid. I have learned my lesson on Titon w/o any hard feelings.

So I put the grinding wheel on the right angle grinder upside down and went at the back side of that top pocket on each end where the loader pads sit. I took off 50 or 60 thou and a little more on the edge to open the angle a bit. When I mounted the plate the bottom pins locked properly w/o any force on the plate so I gained some but the loader pad faces were still not in contact with the back of the plate. I could see I wasn't going to get there with my grinding scheme unless I took off a whole lot more. So I will cut out two 10" sections from the top and do it right by welding in what I need.

On a side note RE: the 16" dimension on the drawings DownSizing provided I took a very thin machinist's scale and measured from the inside apex point of the angle on top down to the end of the flat on the bottom on 3 different plates

1) Kubota bucket measured 15-13/16" - fits fine
2) FrostBite log grapple measured 15-11/16" - also fits fine
3) Titan 5/16" SSQA plate measured a weak 15-5/8" - would not fit properly even after grinding almost a 1/16"

So it would seem that 16" dimension doesn't mean much to mfgrs. On my tractor going that big might make for a sloppy fit as my bucket has the slightest wiggle to it if you use a bar.

IF IS NOT YOUR TRACTOR, THE PLATE IS TOO SHORT....I HAVE ONE WITH SAME ISSUE. PLATE IS SUPPOSE TO THEIR SPECS BE 18.5 INCHES OVER ALL HEIGHT AND IT IS LESS THAN 18. THEY ARE SHIPPING ME EVEN NOW BUT I WAS CLEAR TO THEM WITH PICTURES MUCH LIKE YOURS BE SURE YOU MEASURE THE REPLACEMENT FIRST.

THEY COULD NOT HAVE BEEN NICER TO DEAL WITH. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS GREAT TO TALK WITH. NOW TO SEE HOW THE ACTION FOLLOWS THROUGH.

Mine is 3/8 inch thick.

.............................................Mine is 3/8 inch thick.

My 3/8" SSQA plate arrived (at work) on Thursday for a snow plow build, and my tractor is at home. The plan was to do the fab at work and bring the plow home on a small trailer. Work was going to begin as early as tomorrow, but after reading about the plate issues, the plate is coming along home tomorrow night to be checked for fit BEFORE any fab work begins. Thank you all for posting. It could save me a lot of hassle. I'll post back after trying mine on the FEL.

I really thought about posting as soon as we found the problem but thought might be a single item. Wonder if they had new source or what happened IF the issue is the same on a few. I feel Titan will make all right. Chim, thankful we test fitting also.

Looks like they were 1/2" to long from that thread. Now they are about a 1/2" to short, mine anyway

The angle is right on 45* and there is no weld bead up in the point of it so that is good

But the plate is only 16" and they took up about a 1/2" with the angled 3/8" lip. Makes the 16" mount dimension opening a tad tight.

As you can see I am in the process of fixing mine. I would be done but I need to come up with some 3/8" flat bar.

Just got replacement mount for Titan and have not been able to check to be sure it fits but two things right off: it does measure the overall height is is suppose to be of 18.5 inches and this one is not welded top and bottom but is a looks like a computer cut piece of metal for the total mount with the top, bottom and sides all being bent. Quick look in fading light only see welds on the four corners.

Unless there is something we missed with tape measure very pleased with the way Titan has handled this. I called them last Wednesday, Jan 2nd and replacement arrived about 5:15 PM. Pleased me very well. Nothing yet on how to return the defective mount to them. Obvious two different designs in the two mounts.
