Got a 2004 Toolcat 5600 with 1100 hours, picked it up recently. Everything working fine for about a week, yesterday it didn't want to go in reverse. Will back up with effort, moves ok in forward, some resistance. As soon as you let off the gas pedal, it comes to a quick stop. Thinking brakes are locked up. Not sure where to start. Open to suggestions. Did check hydraulic level and fluid condition. Looks okay.
Do the brake adjustment as shown in the service manual.

Waiting for service manual. Just got the machine recently, only have the operators manual. Any chance you could scan that part and post it. Thanks.

I have no experience with your 5600 B series, but have read that there is a major difference in the drive line and axles, with my 5610 F series, so don't think that would help.

Independent rear suspension.

I just looked at the service Manuel and could not find an adjustment procedure for them. I'v been working on Toolcats for years and never heard of an adjustment. Can you post the SN# so I can look in the proper Manuel? The Toolcats are equiped with wet brakes contained within the axle housing.

I checked my service manual, it shows how to disassemble the brakes, but there is no adjustment like the ones on the V417.

Update on my situation.
Ordered the shop manual, unplugged the swashplate sensor and cleaned the connections, and the code went away. Ran the tool for an hour and it came back. So got on the horn with the local service guy, he advised the replacement of the sensor, so I ordered one and replaced it this am. The old one 's shaft was locked up while the replacement spun freely. All better other than the cramp I got getting my hand under that pump. Thanks all!

Axle matching is the ability to speed up or slow down front or rear wheels so they match in RPM. Its been a while but for instance if a rear wheel begins to slip and spin the front wheel will speed up to match the rear. I'm rusty on the older model theory of operation.Any body out the remember how that works. Slow down or speed up?:confused3:

Axle matching will de-stroke pump on the faster turning axle to slow it down to match the other. That is why when one motor gets weak or fails drive stops with axle matching on because it de-strokes the good working pump/axle to match the speed of the bad one.
