So what do you think about the big ole 23.1x26's on the 300?? Think it will look stupid?

nope. will look good I think..

I have some monster 14.9-28's on a 950 ford.

deffinately a size too big for her.. but look nice.

More updating....

Got the larger tires today. MAN they are HUGH:confused2:

I am going to try to run them in the narrowest setting. In the narrow position, its a 14" offset, which should give a 82" width. The other way would be 90. Looks like the only think I will have to do is make a plate to offset the fenders closer to the tractor. Just measuring, it looks like I will need about 1" or so. But I will mount the tires first and then modify the fenders to fit

After I picked the tires up this morning, I started working on the fast hitch. Cause I forgot that tires need to be off to assemble it. It has been broken and repaired in the past, and holes larger than they were supposed to be cause bolts broke off in the rear end top-cover, and they re-drilled and tapped beside the old hole, and then just welded a washer to the hitch to partially cover the old hole.

I repaired the rear end cover already. I filled in their repair holes, extracted the old broken bolts, and then used all-thread for studs, with a nut and washer on the bottom and then welded. No pics of that but they certainly shouldnt pull through.
So with relocating the studs to the correct position, I had to now fix the hitch part that bolts to it...

I used a 5/8" OD copper pipe where the holes needed to be, then welded around it til the excess was filled in.

Tomorrows project, I may try to work on the TA clutch cover. I dont have much good stuff in the way of material to make one from scratch, cause it fits in a tight area between the battery tray and steering box, so I may try to salvage this

If all else fails, here's a pretty decent set, but 4 hours away... And lord only knows what they would ask for them. Something looks kinda' funky about the left rim, towards the front. Pic won't enlarge to get a close-up look. http://www.tractorhouse.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=6362587

Rims look to have been recently painted, maybe when they installed the new tires.

I have dealt with these guys, but at a different location, and were real good on prices.

And note the FH plow attached..!!

don't you love all the broken bolts and studs previous owners leave ya.

I worked on a ford 950 once that took me 2 weeks to drill out and retap and repair broke otls and studs all over the dern tractor.

Yep, I hate broken bolts. Probably had to do at least 20 so far. Some of them I broke tearing things appart too.

If I was the PO, I dont know if I would have done any different though. Was a work tractor. Do what ya gotta do to get by. Like 5 bolts holding on the cowl around the steering wheel instead of 6 cause one broke.

And running tek's into other various sheet metal parts to hold it back together. And 3 1/2" bolts instead of 4 holding on just a fender, etc

Same kind of stuff like on my backhoe. Just a PITA when you want to restore it ad do it right. But still just as effective to get the tractor back into the field

heck.. i've used self tapper sheet metal screws to hold stuff together in the field.

it's when it involves the cast iron that I'm a lil more gently when it comes to things breaking or pulling threads out. :)

just remember that those large tires will change you're gearing making for a higher low gear and may be harder to move around slow trying to hitch something up to it
