if that cover is ANY indication of your weld / fab skills. I'd say you will have about a 0% chance of having a problem MAKING your own adapter cover. :)

Thanks. Yea, the cover should be no big deal.

Just a matter of weather I have a piece of pipe or channel that is the right size to fab something up. And between now and whenever I get around to making it, if one happens to pop up on ebay for $10-$20 or so, not really worth the few hours involved in making something.

I did a google search on what I thought was the cover, using it's part number from the Case/IH online parts book. Ritchie Equipment showed they had one in stock, but no price.

Just not sure if it was the right cover though...

Got the rear main installed, and engine all cleaned and prepped, and then painted. As well as some other accessories and what not.

Here is a pic of the shifter cover painted. Can hardly tell it was ever broke

And the rest of the painting done this morning

Just out of curiosity, why do you have a hardness tester in your shop. I used to use one frequently, but never needed one for my tractors!

Wow, good eye. I cannot believe you spotted that with all of the clutter.

No real reason to have it, but it is handy for checking things before or after machining, or whatnot. The factory machine shop I used to work at had it. That placed closed last year and there were ALOT of things up for grabs that other plants did not want, all you had to do was request it. Things like nice wilton bench vise, hose real, electric cord reel, LED light real, old mag drill, puller set, Rockwell tester, to name a few.

Some of the pics you might be able to see the small steel rack with lots of round stock, pipe, and other short pieces. I made the rack while at work there, and got to take it home with me as well as everything on it when they closed. Not to mention the 45 or so 3ph electric motors that are under the white tarp that I have no clue what I am going to do with yet....

IT was a really good place to work, and they treated us real well when we left, cause everything I took, was just going to be thrown into a steel dumpster.

I worked for GM, at one time they were pretty good about selling or giving us stuff to be scrapped. But in the last few years, they got really shxxxity about everything, nothing was allowed. If you asked why, you were told "corporate policy". Never figured out why, but that's the breaks, I guess.

This place I worked used to be like that. Nothing was allowed to leave. Very upsetting seeing all the steel I threw away over the years knowing I could use it for projects.

All of that changed Last August when they announced they were shutting us down DEC 31st. You could take anything thrown out. And then once closed EVERYTHING that wasn't requested by sister plants was slated to be tosses. It was kinda a free-for-all.
