Post hole digger.

Well, It's real handy when you need a hole - but the other 364 3/4 days a year it's just in the way.

Good answer, John! I first bought a posthole digger and shared it with a neighbor for years. When I needed it, it would be hanging on a tree limb at his place and when he needed it, it would be hanging on a tree at my place (just the way it worked out). By both of us having co-ownership, that PHD got used quite a bit.

When I got married, my wife had a PHD also. We used hers to put in the fence around the garden last year and it's been sitting idle ever since, hanging from a tree limb.

They are great to have when you need them, but there are long, long times between each use for me. If I needed one and didn't have it because I sold it, I'd probably cuss like a sailor. So I guess we'll keep it.

My boxblade has sat for years. I'm either not good enough to figure out how to use it, or I've just figured out other ways to level ground that I like better. Either way, it's my brothes when he moves here and has a place to put it.

Back when I lived in the SF Bay Area in small house on a small lot, I had an engine lift for working on cars. It's a handy thing to have, but it takes up a huge amount of space that I didn't have. When somebody wanted to borrow it, I let them, but the rule was they had to keep it for six months. hahaha Most would smile at that, but I was serious. After six month, they understood why and couldn't wait to return it.

PHD - great for the big fencing project but after that it was too much hassle to hook up for the one or two holes I would need to dig (guess I'm pretty good with a shovel).

Landscape rake - with/without gauge wheels, with/without alternating tines removed. Just didn't do much for me.

Sold both of them on Craigslist for pretty much what I paid for them! ;)

Wow I am shocked, I use my PHD for all kinds of things. Post Holes, sonatubes, Planting trees and bushes. I use it to drill down behind trees and stumps to to pull them out and knock them over. It is my favorite implement. I do however set up and move my fencing all the time. My tarp buildings I always sink a post on 4 corners and pipe clamp the to keep them on the ground when the wind kicks up. I find it no more difficult to hook up than any other tool & mine is in 3 pieces on the wall

Another one for the post hole digger. I bought it for a fence line, then hired soem guys to do it at a price I couldn't refuse and they dug them all by hand, about 100 holes.
Next time I was going to use it to put up a telephone pole greenhouse shade structure - again the guys dug it by hand.

I just sold it last week, after sitting idle for 10 years.

Like Eddie I have a Box Blade that still has the original paint on after having it for 7 years.
Also have a JD weight box. Been sitting on a shelf ever since I got a Kubota weight box.

I don't have much stuff for my tractor but man I just had to have a quick hitch from harbor freight when this site was on fire about those. Thought it was ANSI compatible so all my toys would hook right up....Wrong. Its in the barn collecting dust.
