Inconsiderate Neighbor?

Yea you're right we're off topic here Snell but you are right on the money. As Rush would say, enviromentalist wackos!!! I was channel surfing the other night and came on that Politically Incorrect show and they were actually blaming all the worlds problems on MEAT! I kid you not. There were four well known actors there and that guy Mike from survivor that killed the pig. They were all ganging up on him for killing the pig and saying how demonic meat was! That lady that used to play on cheers, the small obnoxious one, anyway she said that because of meat was the reason for the school shootings!!! NO JOKE. Her response was that the only reason to have guns is to hunt, and the only reason people hunt is for meat. So if noone ate meat then there would be need for guns and therefore our schools would be safe! Then that idiot Bill whatever said that all of our healthcare problems are because of eating meat. If everyone was a vegetarian then there wouldn't be heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, etc. Then went on with some other wacko ideas. I really can't believe that people actually think this way.

Doc,

What is really sad, is a number of viewers actually accept this as "gospel" and pass this on as "fact" to others...

"Gee Whiz, I heard/seen/read this on radio/tv/newspaper the other day... so it must be <font color=red>fact</font color=red>"

{I guess the same now goes with internet forums...}

cowboydoc,
Not to get of the subject, but year or so ago there was a good size animal rights protest.
Now many people were carrying signs and and saying there motto, but if one look close at them one could see there fur line gloves mittens and cow hide belts etc.. I felt like saying to them practice what you preach.

Doesn't Bill Like McDoanlds..geeze I wonder when he had those big steak dinners at the white house if he push his plate to one side and had tofu instead..yeah right.

I wonder how many of those people enjoy there bbq's,and isn't kinda funny they don't say much about fish products.

Far as guns...maybe people have forgotten thats why we live in a free country, also help to put food on the table during the rough times.

oops..I better scoot before I really get to going it.

Have a pleasant day down there.

darn, sure wish I coulda got in on all that. The place I bought here in Michigan came with a free cell tower. Seriously, the original owner had sold off the land to the cell tower company quite a few years ago. So I have a cell tower in the back yard, and a 36 foot wide chunk past it to the 7+ acres in the back. I'd love to get the land back - at a reasonable price - just 'cause it's such a waste having that pasture there and seeing it go to waste. And seeing the weeds creep further and further. I've steadily encrouched on it ... used a prtable electric fence to give the wife's minis and extra 2 acres of grass ... and I'm tempted to ask the cell people to let me lease the whole thing (and keep it cut, etc) ... but I'm afraid if I asked them formally ... they'd "officially" know I'm using it and kick me off. As long as I have this portable stuff that can come down at a moments notice ... they're sort of ignopring me.
Now if I could but it back and lease it to them at a profit ... yeah, right!

too bad that common sense ain't

I've often wondered why cell phone companies don't buy the land for the towers. When you figure what it costs them over the life of the contract they could buy the whole farm!

Lease payments must very widly acording to location. I understand a landowner close to me gets $350/mo, and a company offered me $500/mo. They're using about 2 acres, and will let me run livestock, or farm the land.

As I stated in my first post...HIS property...could care less what he does with HIS property. I knew about the tower and really do care less. It was erected several years before; it is my other neighbors that have the problem with it. I have nothing to compare it with (how can I miss something I never had???) I know these cell companies pay crazy money for towers. It could very well be that other neighbors passed on the cell deal and have become jealous. Mere speculation. Septic systems and well water is all new to me...thus, my original concerns. I have checked with Town Hall. A permit exists for a garage, but, NO dwelling/apartment. Once the 3+ feet of snow melts, I plan on re-visiting the surveyor posts.
I'm sure some of the other New Englanders can relate to dealing with SWAMP YANKEES :) I won't even begin to tell you about the guy who chases people with a shotgun because they drove by his house...

LilRhody; Do revisit those surveyors post when the snow is gone. Even if the structure is on his property, find out what your local setback restrictions are. In most jurisdictions, you cannot build right-on-the line.

In my county (which I expect is the norm), they tend to take your word for it. You have to provide a plat, showing where the structure will be located with respect to your lines. When the inspector comes out, they don't survey or measure; they simply accept what you say is the lines. They mainly rely on neighbors raising the flags for them. (This made sense, in the past. They couldn't take the time and cost to validate lines. With today's technology, all it would take is a database listing property boundaries and a hand-held GPS receiver).

Richard,

Ah well since we went off topic what the heck... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The People's Pharmacy this weekend mentioned a study on the a certain type of stroke that is NOT prevelant in the US but which is very prevelant in Japan. Apparently in countries with a diet low in meats they have low cholesteral. This is supposed to be a good thing. Think Again. The problem is that you need SOME cholesteral to BUILD healthy blood vessels! To much cholesteral and you clog the vessels. Not enough and the vessels fail! The stroke in the low meat eating diets was because of the blood vessels being weakened from a lack of cholesteral.

Its all about balance. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

And I thought the anti gun people were only out to stop the criminals. HCI is supposedly NOT against hunting....

Yeah Right...

Re: Balance

Dan,

You hit the nail right on the head!

At my last checkup, the Doc said that my LDL (the bad cholesterol) was a "little" high, but my HDL (the good cholesterol was also high. He indicated that on balance (there's that word again) that even though I was a little high on the LDL, the proportionately higher HDL was protecting me. A smart doctor (or patient) should not get too concerned with one or the other as long as the balance is good.

Likewise with meat versus vegan. I personally feel that people have been omnivores for quite a long time. Accordingly, limiting your diet to all vegetable, or too much meat, may not be a good thing. Again, the answer lies somewhere in the middle. Personally, I feel better when I get a bit of both. Try to maintain that balance.

Little known fact, bears are omnivores, but about 80% of their diet is vegetable.
