I already have a gasport3 on the .50ae.. also.. the AMT A-V is lighter weight than the desert eagle.. I'm sure that's most of the problem right there..

The 12 gauge doesn't kick as much as a 50AE Desert Eagle. Probably due to the extra weight(minimal) and the extra hand you have on the pump slide.
Have you considered having the barrel ported, or adding a ported extension to the existing barrel?

I have a compact Glock mod. 29, 10mm that I use for carry. It is on par with the .41 mag and fits in the palm of your hand. You can only fit three fingers on the grip but once you get used to it , it really is fun to shoot and quite accurate at that. I used to carry a series 70 combat commander but if you carried that all day it was like working out in Gold's Gym. I really like the little Glock and it imparts a **** of a wallop. Almost twice the energy of the .45. Expensive to shoot but the firepower is there if need be...Also nice for hiking and defense against whatever you may encounter in the big woods. Bear, Mt Lion etc. with little impact on the burden of carrying it. Not saying there aren't better guns to use for self defense but this is my favorite choice...:)

My favorite carry is my Calico 9mm. Not a lot of Hatcher scale stopping power, but the 100 round helical coil magazine helps ;). Unfortunately, I can't get a carry permit for it. Seriously, like johnk, I like my wife's compact Glock model 29 best for all-day toting.

They also sell a grip extender for the 4th finger if it makes you feel more comfortable shooting it. The only problem is it makes it that little bit bigger.. I use it as is..... PS. If you need a 100 round magazine better take a shooting course because it's the first shot that counts unless in a heavy firefight which is unlikely unless the oil in the world runs out and everyone has to fend for themselves. Then I'll take a .50 in a pillbox...I wish I had your Calico...

The bulk o fthe time i carry a sig P-230 in .380 Not a beast by any menas.. but it is a decent weight for frame size.. virtually no felt recoil because o fthe weight.. and some good hi performance ammo like +p or hydra shocks.. etc.. will perform adequately should push come to shove.

For extremly discrete carry i have a minscule kel tec in .32acp.. have a 'wallet' holster for it.. super convienient.. virtually no weight. and no 'printing' on clothing.

What's the pro-gun peoples comment on the Virginia Massacre?

This would not have happened if the other students had been armed too?

It might have still happened, but probably not to the extent that it did.

Probably time for a lock.

It may have still happened if others had the ability to be armed as well, but the body count would have likely been reduced. The biggest problem we face right now, is people forget their best weapon is located between their ears. Between that and people not wanting to think about having to protect themselves, society has become weak, perfect prey for people like this guy.

You have to realize the police cannot protect you, and they have no obligation to protect you personally. Celeberties can be afford to be alright with citizenry not having firearms because they have their own armed security forces to protect them, same as politicians. As far as I'm concerned, people who can't understand the need to take responsibility for ones' own safety and the safety of one's family, are simply in denial. Any weapon in the hands of someone there could've possibly ended this, including pepper spray. That might've bought someone a little time to take action against the shooter. A gun is not the be-all/end all solution to every problem. In this case, from what I've seen the biggest problem was everyone was in such shock from it, nobody could take action on it. Sneak up behind the **** guy and slit his throat with a pocket knife, or stab him in the chest with a pencil. Just about anything can be used as a weapon. Unfortunately not many people realize that, since they are afraid to confront the possibility of something like that happening, and think of some possibilities of what might be done to stop it if it does.

Even with this incident, cars, and a whole bunch of other things kill more people than people with firearms do per year by a long shot. It is an unfortunate incident. However, putting more restrictions on firearms is not the answer. Common law abiding citizens are the only ones who care about firearms laws.

People sensationalize these firearms incidents but don't think rationally about it. Rationally, since the police weren't there when it started, they couldn't protect anybody. This is how most crimes occur, without a cop present initially. Unfortunately, no slam against cops or anything, but they simply can't predict where a crime will occur and be there every time. In light of this information, people need to decide what an acceptable risk is for themselves. Personally I feel better about armed law abiding citizens being sprinkled liberally about society. Makes me feel safer, and makes me feel better for my family, because there's an increased possibility someone will be able to put a stop to a nutjob like this quickly.

According to the media, guns just force people to kill other people randomly. Mine must all be defective, because they've never convinced me to shoot at anyone unprovoked. I hope I'll be able to avoid ever having to use a gun in defense of self or others. However, if the need arises, I definitely want to have the necessary tool to do the job. People who legally carry concealed weapons are no different than when you put on a seatbelt or buy home, auto, or tractor insurance. It's an insurance policy. You always put it on/buy it with the hope you'll never need it, but if you ever do need it, you'll be thankful you had it.

I miss the good old days where when someone snapped, the only person they decided to kill was him or herself. These days of trying to get back at everybody, or go out with a bang are getting ridiculous. It decidedly needs to end, but until it does, it's wise to have the ability to defend yourself. It's best to have a multiple layered defense, starting at martial arts, a taser or pepper spray and ending at a firearm.

I don't want this thread to get emotional or political.. But I would stop short of saying that 'it' wouldn't have happened.. but perhaps.. ther emight have been fewer peopl kille dor injured if A) the students resisted en masse. If 30+ students rushed the shooter.. he may have hit a few.. but not 32 of them. Or B) Had there been a legally armed student.. that could have used a weapon in self defense.. then mayber same result as A.

On the flip side.. i don't find fault with -any- of the victoms/students or facualty that tried to flee... It's just human nature to be frightened when faced with being killed.

Just my .02$ worth..

Very well said indeed (long loud applause) Thank you, thank you very much.

A small but perhaps significant quibble... I don't think insurance like for cars, houses, and such is proactive.

Concealed carry seems proactive and BETTER THAN INSURANCE. Insurance, at best, after a deductible tries to replace goods or grant a monetary compensation for a loss to a person. Concealed carry is a positive step toward promoting safety for ones self, family, neighbors, and general public. Concealed carry affords an immediate response that can prevent or reduce loss, much better than insurance.

Yeah, I call it insurance too. My baby Glock in .45ACP is my nearly constant companion when dressed but it gives me an ability SUPERIOR to the way insurance works.

If a deranged unstable individual or group wishes to make a "splash" on the 6 o'clock news and there were no guns available they would improvise explosive devices, Molotov cocktails, poison gases or whatever was needed to support their lunacy.

When analyzed rationally, this latest atrocity against civilized society, like Columbine et al, is firearm neutral. It could and most likely would have been achieved by any number of alternative means. You cannot legislate sanity and rationality. Insane and or irrational people will act out even if firearms did not exist. Gee, if we had only know in advance we could have passed a law against the sales of Koolaid and saved all those poor misguided innocent folks at Jonestown.
