International 350

Hi first time posting to this forum I bought a international 350 last fall to brush hog a 30 acre field as the kioti I have doesn't have the power to do it picked it up cheap didn't know much about it I hooked the brush hog up and was playing in the yard got the pto turning threw the brush hog down and the pto slowly stops spinning over about 10 feet if you keep it high it will spin just fine, also the ta clutch lever on the left side does not operate the lever will move but nothing else will seems to need adjustment any tips on the pto stopping under load?

If it has the independent, or live power as most call it, that has a planetary unit inside. 2 brake bands lock the outside part to make the internal part rotate. It may simply need adjustment, and I have no idea how that is done, not familiar with that unit, just what I found doing a Google search for "adjusting IH 350 pto." You might try that and see if you can get an idea on how to do it. But, probably best to get a decent service/repair manual that would go into greater detail.

I did see where the unit has oil in it, saw where Hy-Tran is recommended. Might want to check that and see if there is anything in it at all. I guess better to have something in there even if the wrong fluid than dry and took the lining off the bands. Could drain, flush and replace with proper fluid, adjust and hopefully work. Checked Case/IH and each band is like $219 ea. Aftermarket not much better in price. Did find a place that will reline for $99.99 ea. w/core. Harvester Brake Band Reman Service
