Is anyone here familiar with scaffolding?

I have some scaffolds (Bil-Jak) but the upper pieces are very hard to assemble without extra help. As noted before, rent a boom/man lift. The drive to the rental place may seem far, but most also offer delivery. Kinda pricey. Self propelled are real nice, but may not be needed, depends on the terrain. You won't be sorry.
Man lifts may be nice but a lot of us are so rural that it's an hour or so to the rental company and we work at our own pace.
I had a 40 wide x22 deep carport collapse in a double ice storm. I needed to get up about 20' to neatly disassemble it. With a pair of Bakers scaffolds (cost ~$250 total) it was straight forward and I could do it at my own pace, waiting for good weather.
As quicksandfarmer wrote it's handy for numerous small projects.
In my area the least expensive scissor lift runs about $300/week plus

I suspect the reservations about buying scaffolding is people look at the price tag and wonder if they will use it enough to justify their purchase. When someone has a project like disassembling a collapsed carport or extensive siding repairs having to be made as time allows, then purchasing starts to make sense, especially when rental prices are high.

The towable lift I rent, is $270/day and a 35 minute drive, each way. For the inside work, I rented a small scissor lift, $300/day, 45 min drive (different place). Both worth it, IMHO.

Now days duplex head nails are mostly used for concrete form work. But to buy them today, a lot of times they are still called scaffold nails.
It takes about $125 in materials and 45min to put up 8ft x 16ftlong scaffold, with the materials re-useable afterwards for other projects. In this case I use the loader forks to move it around. 25min to disassemble. Osha has guidelines on scaffolding, including those made of wood. But I think I saw mentioned "My existence can be summed up as an endless series of unreported OSHA violations..."

Since we do not intend to (voluntarily) move ever again, and I am hoping to last at least two more decades, I will be looking at at least 5 more staining projects on the house, so owning DEFINITELY becomes more economical. And that does not include all the other projects it can be used for.

If I thought my wife would let me get away with it, I would go down to the river by the recycle center, cut down a gross or three of bamboo, and lash it together into a work structure like they do in Asia… 😂🤣

The small shed on the left was built in 2016, with the scaffold materials ending up used for part of the shed. The metal roof on the right, scaffold was put up yesterday, gone by tomorrow. So there is something to be said about rent/own/store/build depending on use and abilities.

Like these? I am amazed what humans do with bamboo scaffolds.

Truly an amazing collection of bamboo scaffold pictures here;

All the best, Peter
Well, maybe not THAT elaborate, but basically. . . Yeah.

I figure I can also use the scaffold to hang/age/skin/butcher deer during hunting season, too. 😎
