If it was simply latched down like that from the unlatched position, I'd just be sure to do it right and not twist it when latching.
Whether it was done when latching or from an already latched position- will it do that with a ball in it? The pic shows it with no ball in it.
I have the same/similar coupler on my dump trailer and haven't had it do that.

I think it will do it with the ball in too.And it does latch and stay in place.

How large a trailer do you have? If it is 12' or +, I would be looking at replacing the hitch with a Bulldog Bulldog Hammerblow trailer hitch ball couplers.

I'm going to have to put my faith in the trailer manufacturer on this one.I'm not likely to buy a new hitch setup on a brand new trailer :)

It is on a 18' 12k # tilt bed

I have the bulldog coupler on my trailer,the lever swings instead of lifting. I have to be carefull not to pinch my fingers when locking,unlocking it. plowking
