Using pipe is a good way to go to solve a tough fabrication matter for us mere mortals without access to serious metal fabrication tools.

Truer words were never spoken!:p:laughing:

Norm, I also meant to mention that I love seeing how you are using (recycling) old materials for your build. That makes it even more interesting to follow this thread.
Remember when I told you I'm a scrounger and a proud cheapskate?:D

I agree that's a great idea for the bucket. Looks good too. :thumbsup:

"S&PC Builder's Network" has a nice ring to it:laughing::laughing:.

We could capitalize on the environmental "green" frenzy by emphasizing the re-use/recycle aspect of the practice. I love how I used to be a tightwad cheapskate. Now I'm environmentally responsible.

Hey! I like ERTC (environmentally responsible tightwad cheapskate) too!:thumbsup:

If something like this actually takes off the possibilities are hilarious as well as "green"!:licking::laughing:

I never met a piece of scrap steel I didn't love.

Neither have I!:laughing::laughing: I'll be back "scrapping" with steel pretty soon. We're back from the wedding and it didn't go off without a "hitch".:D:thumbsup: That was the object of the whole event after all!:D:licking:;)

Busted the blade in the bandsaw so I'm back to using the reciprocating saw freehand.:( Sure slows things down and that thing jumps around so much I've got blisters from trying to hold it steady.:p I hope to have a new blade by next week and get back to cutting and "scrapping" with steel the easy way. I should have photos of the boom, stick, and bucket laid out with two out of three cylinders in place pretty soon, I hope.

I'm under the gun now if I'm to get 'er done this summer.:( It's not unheard of to have a snowfall that stays for the winter in two months time! That said, I really put the patch job on the welder to the test this week. I've been filling in some of the spot-welded work I did earlier; running on full power till it cuts out. In about ten minutes I can weld again but it's a better idea to let it cool right down and then start another long run till it cuts out again. I don't have too much that needs to be welded at full power any more. I'm posting a photo that shows what it looks like to date. There is some trimming and lots of fill welding to do on the bucket and I need to prepare and attach mounting brackets for the cylinders at the kink of the boom. After that it's about ready to hang up on the back of the tractor.:thumbsup: That is when I will have to put on my "hydraulics hat" and install a pump, reservoir and filter from the donor bale loader.

The mischievous side of me has been pondering a name for this contraption. So far, the best one I have come up with is "I'M 4 DIGGIN'"
