You said your dealer is good. Trade this tractor for a new one after the dealer takes care of the fix. Try another brand!

Update: After some phone calls for over a hour, got some stuff straightened out. Massey absolutely will not even talk about the loader or any help because it's a year out of loader warranty. Even though I've had non stop problems with the tractor for 2 years....
So my only hope is the insurance I purchased to cover the tractor when I bought it. My first 1742, had it for 20 hours and dealer couldnt fix the surging so they exchanged for another 42 on the lot. Signed papers on switched serial numbers and such. Good to go from there or I thought. Now 2 years later I go to use that insurance and its tied to my original serial number and not the new one. Lots of back and forth and thank you to the insurance company for listening and working with me. They are going to go ahead with the claim. Thank god
So the dealer got back to me with repair estimate. $7500!!!! Loader, subframe kit, hood, grille, and bumper. This dealer has been absolutely phenomenal in helping me with this tractor. They've bent over backwards for me when massey wouldnt even look my way. I moved here a year ago and didnt even buy the tractor from me but they've treated me like family. Clinton Tractor is the shop and if anyone is in central new York, they are amazing.
Still in the stages of getting insurance to call dealer and go back and forth with them so I dont know how long this will take or what the outcome will be. Just sucks that I have a $34000 2 year old tractor that's been beating me up every step of the way. I got new thinking warranty and quality. Guess the quality for me has been horrible. I know you guys have had amazing Massey's and not one issue, it's just my luck to get a problem one. When it runs, I love it.
I keep you all posted on the outcome. So massey will not help and it's all on me to get it fixed. I'm not happy about it but then again, I cannot afford 8000 in repairs out of my pocket and this being my only machine for a 14acre horse farm, I need it back asap
it's nice to know Massey Ferguson stands by their products.

But... They, and I think EVERY OTHER manufacturer, have a 1-yr warranty on the loaders. Why would anyone EXPECT that a Mfg would/should replace something out of warranty? I mean, we all would LIKE to see that happen, but it rarely does.

The OP should reach out to ALO-Quicke and give that a shot... They are the ones that built the loader.

My dealer is mainly a new Holland dealer with a few massey's to have another line. I did ask about a trade in when I first brought it there with the first dpf issue and they offered me 14,000. I owe 10,000 more than that!!!!! I do like the tractor, it has many standard features that other call options. I wanted to try to see if massey would help seeing as its second home is the dealer since new but no dice there. Yes I dont blame them otherwise everyone else would do it but was worth a shot seeing as this is a hugeeeeee repair bill. TSO, I did email quicke but haven't heard a response yet. Right now I'm trying to run the farm out of a lawnmower and a small garden cart lol. Thanks for all the moral support guys, I'm just so down about this tractor because I thought I was getting something badass and will last a long time

that's a manufacturing defect they probably knew about for a long time, it can't possibly be something that should not be taken care of. maybe the CPSC or BBB can help. this is, after all, something that can endanger lives.. it could break while fully up with a heavy load, and come towards the operator.. it was Massey Ferguson that changed vendors to this cheaper one that is making unsafe products, THEY are at fault for continuing to sell the unsafe loader..

Even though I feel this is a lesser loader than the Soo Tractor loaders it replaced, the ALO-Quicke loaders are used by a few manufacturers and have a big aftermarket following. They are generally regarded as a quality manufacturer. I can't imagine that this is a common defect, otherwise we'd be hearing about it more often.

I would think that both AGCO/Massey AND ALO-Quicke should take a vested interest in this incident tho... For the same liability reasons you mentioned. If it were me running the company (AGCO/Massey) I would replace the loader, then chew out ALO-Quicke and have them reimburse me for the loader.

But we don't run the company... Some bean-counter does.

From your first post it sure seems like this has been a problem tractor and will likely continue to be so.

(My opinion) Do yourself a favor and sell the dang thing private party. Take the loss and get on with your life. How much is the time you have lost and your agrivation worth anyway?

New Holland makes some nice tractors and you already know what dealer to use...

Another option would be to get an aftermarket loader for it, IIRC, they generally run around $4k. Find one with a built in grill guard and live with the hood damage (or replace it).

I'd suggest you find a good welder with heavy equipment experience and have them properly weld it, then sell the tractor..
