I can't comment on the loader used on the 1742 between the So model vs. the alo model. However I am quite familiar with the loader's used on the gc1700 series. And factually and capacity wise the DL95 ALO is superior product to the SOO DL100 unit.

The DL100 product made by SOO is a quality product. But the DL95 product made by ALO handles more than 200 pounds greater payload capacity than the former used DL100. This is true by factory specs but also true in actual testing. The DL95 also does a superior job of protecting the hydraulic hoses. Lastly the weight of the frame mounts and loader arms of the DL95 shows why it's capacity is so much great than the DL100.

Even the pins used on a DL95 loader are larger in diameter to any of the pins used on its competitors in the same tractor category. I can't reference the loader used on the 1742 from SOO or alo because I don't have the schematics on the loaders, but it is factually wrong to claim that ALO was either a cheaper cost choice or a poorer choice or a downgraded choice compared to the SOO product for the GC1700 models. It is not true by specification, it's not true by performance.

On the DL130 vs DL135... The DL130 is spec'd to handle more weight to a higher height. The loader frame mounts are much more robust on the DL130 also. The loader framing is also set wider on the DL130 (better stability and visibility) and the Quick Attach plates are more robust. The hoses on the DL135 certainly offer no better protection, and possibly worse protection, than the hoses on the DL130. However, I will say that the grease zerks are easier to service on the 135.

I never spoke to your DL95/DL100... Not sure who you are referring to in your reference.

Not trying to bash Agco, but they are known for buying great old name brands and cutting production costs to the bone (the quality and support show) and coasting on old name recognition and loyalties. The new MF tractors that I looked at were made in China but priced almost as high as Deere. Deere is not cheap but in their utility sized and up they are the gold standard.

I have not read all 33 prior posts in this thread so someone else may have mentioned it BUT there was lengthy thread a month or two ago regarding broken welds on MF small tractor loaders. You are certainly NOT the first. Seems to me the loader mfr (as opposed to MF) ought to make it good whether they will or not.

I'm sure MF knew about this too, and just didn't care!.. they got their money, and if it's out of warranty, even if it's a safety or design or manufacturing fault, they just don't care.. there are some things that should ALWAYS be covered, this is one of them.. a class action suit may be needed to avoid this hazard to life..

I'd suggest you find a good welder with heavy equipment experience and have them properly weld it, then sell the tractor..
That痴 what I woukd do if MF won稚 step up and mske it right. Paying $7500 for a new subframe that might have the same crappy welds? Of course he値l take a hit on the sales price with a welded subframe. I might consider repairing it and keeping it but then like the OP says he痴 塗ad it!!!!!! and I understand if he just wants to be done with the tractor.

Update: After some phone calls for over a hour, got some stuff straightened out. Massey absolutely will not even talk about the loader or any help because it's a year out of loader warranty. Even though I've had non stop problems with the tractor for 2 years....
So my only hope is the insurance I purchased to cover the tractor when I bought it. My first 1742, had it for 20 hours and dealer couldnt fix the surging so they exchanged for another 42 on the lot. Signed papers on switched serial numbers and such. Good to go from there or I thought. Now 2 years later I go to use that insurance and its tied to my original serial number and not the new one. Lots of back and forth and thank you to the insurance company for listening and working with me. They are going to go ahead with the claim. Thank god
So the dealer got back to me with repair estimate. $7500!!!! Loader, subframe kit, hood, grille, and bumper. This dealer has been absolutely phenomenal in helping me with this tractor. They've bent over backwards for me when massey wouldnt even look my way. I moved here a year ago and didnt even buy the tractor from me but they've treated me like family. Clinton Tractor is the shop and if anyone is in central new York, they are amazing.
Still in the stages of getting insurance to call dealer and go back and forth with them so I dont know how long this will take or what the outcome will be. Just sucks that I have a $34000 2 year old tractor that's been beating me up every step of the way. I got new thinking warranty and quality. Guess the quality for me has been horrible. I know you guys have had amazing Massey's and not one issue, it's just my luck to get a problem one. When it runs, I love it.
I keep you all posted on the outcome. So massey will not help and it's all on me to get it fixed. I'm not happy about it but then again, I cannot afford 8000 in repairs out of my pocket and this being my only machine for a 14acre horse farm, I need it back asap
I get it. Been there and done it. I've been trying to warn people about mf reliability and quality. I'm always dogged for mf bashing and ranting. I totally understand better than you know.

That is maybe a 200 dollar welding job for an experienced welder. That is a good route to go.

I knew it could not be long before Phillip W came in praising Massey. Back to the machinery, surely $7500 buys a new loader -- to heck with repairing it !
