JD2320 VS. Kubota B2620

If you plan on taking the MMM on/off any at all go with the JD due to the drive-over deck.. Easy as pie taking the mower on/off..

Im assuming the Kubota does not offer a driver over deck though..

Brian

The Kubota decks are drive over as well.

*Nope orange is shrper.;)

Once upon a time i considered a Kubota (Gonshiro Oode founder, a teenager in 1890's Nippon), but i decided on going GREEN - much more comfortable and the ergonomics were better on the DEERE (John Deere founder) than the Kubota for me. both will do the tasks that you want to do, however, I would cast my vote for Deere.

Since your taller like me, your going to fit better on the JD. Sit on them and see how they feel, if your going to be riding on one for a while you don't want to be uncomfortable.. I hate the pedal setup on the Kubota, its way to far back towards the seat..

I have owned a B2410 and now have an '08 JD2320. I tried the '08 B2320 before buying the deere. Personally I have found the deere product to be more refined than the Kubota. I found the Kubota had more platform vibration than the deere and the vibration transmitted into the steering wheel. After hours on the machine this may be an issue for you.
I have not had any mechanical problems with either my B2410 or JD2320.
The ergonomics, refinement, pedal placement, and loader valve control sold me on the deere.
Good Luck.

I looked at the same two tractors last year. Pricing on the JD was about 10% higher than the Kubota. The JD has a few more features, like position control and QA bucket, plus independent PTO clutch. I've heard people say that the operater station on the Deere was roomier or more comfortable than the Kubota - this I don't understand. While the the pedal setup on the JD is different (I actually preferred the JD setup over the Kubota setup - but have since gotten used to the Kubota setup and like it) the operator platform on the Kubota is much cleaner and larger than the JD. The old B series was closterphobic in terms of size, but that is not the case on the new B. The clutch setup on the JD is a premium feature that Kubota should have included with the B series. But the one overiding feature that the Kubota has that the JD does not is the 3 range hydro. This was the deal breaker for me. I use my machine primarily for mowing. I really wanted to get the JD, but the fact that it would not take any sort of incline while mowing was something that I could not live with - and yes, I did drive the machine, albeit at the dealer's place. The low range speed on the JD was slower than that on my old garden tractor. The mid range on the Kubota is considerably faster, has enough power to take the steepest of hills, but is not so fast as to be uncomfortable when mowing.

It all depends on your needs, and how the machine will perform those tasks. The JD has a few premium features that Kubota only offers on the B30 series - but the Kubota is cheaper and has a three range hydro. For my needs, the three ranges was more important than the missing features. Whether that will be the case for you, only you can decide. The deciding part is a lot of fun, so take your time and enjoy it - you might not need to ever do this again! Both machines are excellent, and will probably outlast me and you!

When I bought my JD2520 2 1/2 years ago I was comparing apples to apples with the Kb2620. Note that the JD2320 is a bit smaller, about 200lbs lighter and of course a couple less HP. I was looking for a FEL and BH but no mower. Since mowing is one of your primary objectives I would follow the others advice here and really focus in on mounting/unmounting the mower and also (IMO) how easy it is to mount/unmount the loader. Since I don't mow, I leave my loader on all the time but I can imagine what a PITA it would be to mow with the loader on near lots of trees, buildings, landscaping, etc. You really have to be careful manuvering near obstacles with a FEL or you'll do some damage. I wouldn't split hairs too much on the specs, but focus more on the ergonomics and such when you try them out.

You'll want to buy the FEL and deck with the tractor of course but I'd shop aftermarket for stuff like the tiller or BB. I think you'll find either Kubota or Deere are asking $100's more for those than many other brands.

As far as final price that is definitely a regional thing plus whether you already have a good relationship with a particular dealer. In todays economy, I wouldn't be bashful about driving a hard bargain. In my case, I was able to get about 15% off Deere's list prices which ended up being almost $2000 less than the Kubota dealer said he could do. It was a no brainer.

Good luck.

I just realized it was the B2630 I was comparison shopping to my 2520, not the 2620. It looks like the Kubota 2620 wasn't even around yet when I was shopping. It does look pretty comparable to the 2320. A lady I work with has a 2320 that she uses for mowing and light bush hogging and she seems very happy with it.

Anyway every thing else I said still applies. Good luck again.

I agree that they are both great machines. For me it would come down to dealer support first and THEN which features matter to you.

One difference that swayed me is the quick attach bucket on the Deere. A search of the kubota forums will show the lengths they have to go to attach a set of pallet forks, a grapple, or the like. The JD is ready from the get go, you can swap them out in no time. The Kubota, not so much.

If you don't ever see yourself wanting any of these it's a non-issue. If you do, it's a pretty big one IMO.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll enjoy which ever one you choose.

To note though, when you see Kubota guys switching they are moving to universal quick couplers so they can use whatever forks, buckets, etc they want. Deere uses a prioritary coupler thats only good for their over priced implements. You'll spend an extra $300 on a universal QA, but you'll more than make that up on the attachments.

also to note, the lift capacity of the B2620 is 950LBs at the pins, add the adapter which moves the point out 6"-8" , the weight of the adapter and the fact that those inexpensive universal attachments are designed for skid steers and built accordingly (heavy) and your left with about half your lift capacity.

I think the Kubota's a great machine and have advantages like the 3 range hydro but IMO JD has the advantage as far as QA loader buckets , especially in this class of machines where the extra weight really hurts.

It all depends on what features and advantages are important to the the individual and their needs, as no one machine is perfect in every regard to the competition.
