Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Thanks for the update. I was really enjoying your project and I'll look forward to see how it comes along.

Seeing what you and others are doing has answered questions I didn't even know to ask.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

We didn't get a lot accomplished today, but yet at the same time we didn't. Dad trimmed the piece of OSB that was sticking out a little too much on the front and trimmed the tar paper that we had just rough cut when we rolled it out while I was making the attached. Using this we were able to get all of the shingles for this side of the roof up on it today.

Does this look familiar Richard?

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

This is a view from the drivers seat with 2 bundles of shingles in the basket. That was as much as the little guy could lift since it was out that far. The first time I tried to lift it I hadn't curled the bucket enough and I couldn't get high enough. I had maxed out the lift and it wouldn't curl. I had to set it back down to the ground, curl the bucket, and then relift it. From that point on I didn't have any problems, looked and acted like it was designed to do it. I guess it was - by me. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This is looking at it from the side with the 2 bundles of shingles. Considering how far they are out there, it put quite a bit weight on to the front of the tractor.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here is Dad up on the roof unloading the second bundle after I had set it up there to him. He stayed up on the roof and did all of the unloading. I stayed on the ground and drove the tractor and loaded the basket.

I'm back away at this point with an empty basket after he had finished unloading.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here is the roof with all of the shingles up there. Should make the project go much faster now that all of the shingles are up there. Still have to put the shingles up on the other side, but before I do, I want to replace the tar paper on that side as it has been on all winter and has lost its takiness and is now pretty brittle. Cheaper/easier to replace it now then it is to end up with a leak.
