Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

RedDog,
A pretty impressive boompole your brother made! I'm building a barn and need to lift some roofing materials up 14'. It looks like it is attached as if it were a bucket using the same connections. How high does it reach? Can you share any more details on its construction? Thanks.

Nice looking boom pole. Looks like it made your job easy - well easier... How big was your barn? Looks like a nice size.

Bebster,
It is a quick attach/detach boompole! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Flip the handles and off with the bucket, and on goes the boompole.

It'll reach about 25' up.

We had scrap metal laying around and he used what he could find. Color wise it ain't pretty, but it is very useful /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Another picture.

Jwstewar,
Barn is 40x64x12. I have a thread in this section about it. I need to update it a little. I like to check in and see how you are going about yours, especially since we are only about an hour from one another /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Does your New Holland have a quick attach plate? If so you could use the pole. I think we are done with it for now. I am guessing it weighs around 350lbs.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif My little NH doesn't have the Quick attach bucket. I may be confused but I don't think the quick attach is available for the Class 1 loaders. Can somebody else help me out here, did I screw up? I knew I should have gotten if it were available, but I didn't think it was available. Here is what my cousin drew up that we are planning on doing.

BTW, went back and looked at your building. I did see those pictures but didn't remember who was doing it or where you were located. It is looking good so far. Are you under roof yet? I hope to be before snow, but the way the weather is going I don't know.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Jim, I am not an engineer but a quick look at that drawing and I don't like the chain. In my opinion the boom should be rigid instead of being able to fall backwards.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

It'll also be chained/strapped from underneath. That is just extra support out to the end of of the boom pole. We'll wedge/nail a 2x6 in between the bucket and the back of the 4x6. The chain is just there to take some of that brunt.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Thanks for the details on the pole. 25' height is impressive. Bet you need a lot of ballast on the 3PH when that baby gets in the air!

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Bebster,

No ballast yet. I used it on my John Deere corn planter and sicklebar and didn't need any rear weight. I carried them both quite a ways, but was not more than 4 feet in the air.

OK Jim.....where are those photos...????
We all know you set half of those trusses this weekend. We need to see what you got accomplished, and what you made to accomplish it. I was impressed, just wished I had taken pictures of your "boom pole". I guess I was too busy holding on to a rope, guiding trusses in place. I got to meet the Mrs jwstewar too........shy little girl /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
