Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Well, it has been awhile since I've posted. Didn't really work on it much throughout the winter - I don't like cold. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Spring has been pretty wet and pretty busy. But I have finally been managing to spend some time on it again. About time too, I notice the wind is wearin little holes in the Tyvek as it rubs against the OSB. Since this isn't a house I'm not too worried about a little moisture infiltration, was just trying to keep the OSB dry for the winter.

Here is a shot of the south side. You can see that I have the soffit and facia up on this side. Sure does look a lot better getting that dark wood covered up.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here you can see the SE corner and the F-channel install at the rear.

On a side note, I had a structural engineer here last week looking at the house (hail damage - and the insurance adjuster was a moron /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif), he also walked the garage and looked at the roof of it for damage. While we were talking he started asking me some of the detail of how it was built, who had done it and everything. He like how I had done everything. He like my pole spacing, depth, concrete around poles, roof ventilation and everything. He said he had just been on 2 pole barn collapses that the people had just cement around the poles. Just back filled with gravel and they then became huge wings and went flying.

Sorry about the specs. This is the only picture that did it. Don't know if it was the angle and I was picking up the humidity in the air or if it was a paranormal being. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Here is the F-channel on the rear and the north side. You can also see the 2x4 in place to "box" the eave.

Here is the gas line and the electric outlet on the rear. The gas line sticks out a bit far now, but once I start building the interior walls in, I'll slide it in and it will then be about the right spot. Right now it is easier to avoid it on the outside then it is to have it sticking in.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here is a shot of the electric outlet on the North side. I still haven't started running the wires to any of these yet, just wanting to get the boxes in place before the siding goes on. Though I have run the conduit from to the garage for the feed and I've purchased the breaker box and the 100A breaker that will go in the disconnect box by the electric meter to feed the sub-panel in the garage.

Here is the "stash" for the project at hand. It isn't hard work, but it is time consuming doing all of the little trim pieces. It also makes you tired as it is a constant up & down the ladder - and I don't like ladders. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Jim,
You know who to call when that electric needs to be put in /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Looking good so far.
BTW, do you still need any rocks for Monica's pond/gardens?

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

I'll take you up on the offer of the electric. Hopefully around the end of July or so.

As far as the rocks here is Monica's answer YES, YES, I need all I can get. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif We actually spent a lot of the weekend and today working on the pond. She has been doing a lot of mulching and such. We couldn't get the pond clear up, no matter what we did, it left a muck in it. So we decided to drain it and start fresh. When we did we noticed the fish looked like they had a disease. Big soars on all of them. We had them in a bucket, all has died now except 1. It only has one spot on it. I'm doing a partial water change in the bucket everyday and treating the water with medicine. It is looking bettery, but it won't go back to the pond until it is competely clear. Monica will probably take the kids to the bait store tomorrow and buy some feeder fish, it is amazing how fast they grow.

Let me know on the rocks and I'll drive the truck one day to work and I'll stop and get them.
