Between the two choices presented, the cabbed machine would already be in my driveway
Very good feedback everyone. I felt good when I test drove the machine and I now I feel more optimistic about the durability of the 3520. The salesman is holding the machine until we meet again tomorrow. I will see if the dealer serviced the tractor and if there are service records available. If all goes well it just might be working my back 40 by the end of the week.
Thanks.
I am deciding between a used JD3520 with cab, 300cx loader, and loaded tires with 182 hours or a new 3320 without cab and a 300x loader. I love the cab but the warranty is 3 months or 30 hours and the condition is used looking with a dented in front grill, scratch on the hood and rusted loader from being stored outside.
All good points. I want to add though, i have a 72 in mmm on my 3520 cab and dont have loaded tires. I beleive the deck weighs several hundred pounds and with it being on the low center of gravity, i do not experience any of the top heavy feeling when i go on uneven terrain or slopes. Just some food for thought. MMM is a good addition if you plan on doing alot of mowing and are worried about mowing terrain and unstability.Welcome fellow newbe...that said, I own a JD3520 and can attest to the fact the cab is the way to go. That being said however, there are several things I would caution you on.
1st. be really careful on any uneven ground. I say this because the cab and wheel base is shorter and I have noticed a significant sence of being off balance a number of times (ok, my wife says the same thing). I know on my previous JD4310, the rear tires were filled and I did not get the same sensation in similar situations. (I did not get the back wheels filled on this 3520/ and do not know if this could be part of the answer. I do know the filled wheels did not aid me in negotiating wet pastures or loose sandy soils.
Everyone will have their own opinion and I would suggest taking the unit for several days and put it through the paces.
The turbo is great with the non-load setting and the exhaust is turned down so you do not have to worry about covering it up to prevent the turbo from running dry while going down the road...
Enjoy, just my 2C worth
FYI- I have a 3720 with cab. If you are going to be on any sort of uneven terrain you will probably want to get wheel extensions.
