Have you kept track of the time you have into this project so far?

No, not really. A little here and a little there....the time adds up. I have
a bunch of other things I am working on and I jump around a lot between
those and other duties.

I just got my "last" load of parts today, so I should be able to get back to
some places where I have been stuck.

Thanks for watching, and thx for the support!

Well, I am going to sell it, Wayne, but it may cost a bit to ship to the
E coast....

LOL on that one. I sold an IH-340 I restored a few years back on Ebay, and the fellow who bought it asked how far I was from Minnesota. All I could think to say was about 10 days from you driving 20 mph....

Keep up the good work, I'm sure you and anyone else who gets this will take better care of it than the previous owner!

Did you ship it? For the life of me, I can not see why shipping a drivable
tractor costs so much more than shipping a car.

This last summer, I bought a car on eBay and had it shipped from St Lou
to San Jose and I used a broker. The best rate was $700 on an open
car carrier. I have never shipped a tractor, but I hear about much
higher rates.

I do take good care of my tools, but these green plastic panels sure look
fragile (but purty!). Do they break just from vibration?

Car shippers work in bulk, so those car haulers can take 7 (or is it 10) cars per load. Tractors generally have to be flatbedded, implements take up space. at the most you can get two or three loads on a long flatbed.

Of course, if you have to use a flatbed and a loading dock, it will be more.
But many drivable tractors can be shipped like cars, as long as their
wheel track is not too narrow for the spacing of the the carrier's open
center.

Here I am putting the 3-pt cylinder housing back on. All the rust has
been removed and it has been repainted....hopefully better than the
factory paint.

So the deal was the buyer paid shipping. He bought a plane ticket, flew to Maryland, came to see the tractor, did not want to test drive it since he never drove a machine with a clutch before, and had one of these guys with a F-450 or some other large pickup and a long car type trailer haul it home for a fee. Not sure what he charged, but I convinced alcohol was involved when he became the final bidder....

Regarding the plastic panels.... They will not break without help, but if you stress them too much by accident, they will break, always operator initiated....

OK, here is another question for you 4x00 and 4x10 owners.

I am putting together my new hood and fuel door, which was totally
missing from this tractor. Some may think this door is optional. Anyway,
I have the door, which came with the hinge pin in it, and I have 2 clips
and one spring. I think the parts book says you need 2 springs. The
opening in the hood is assymmetrical. A picture of how the spring(s) and
clips go in would sure be helpful....

The fuel door is standard on the 4000 series of that vintage. I don't remember springs being on my fuel door. I'll try and get a picture for you tomorrow or Sunday.

Here are 5 pictures: BTW-I have no "clips" but 2 springs.
