well, I went out to day and worked on it again.
Got it to run somewhat.... Somewhat meaning as long as I pump fuel bulb, it will run.
I pump the bulb, it starts running. then it quits.

I don't believe the carb is pulling gas from the bulb to keep it running.
Bad carb ?? IDK.

The ser # is 06058D301873-1

40cc 18'' wild thing

How would I know if it's a strato (what ever that is) mod. ?

From what you say it's strato. 4018 wildthing like in video is strato. Has air inlet at top.

This shows strato carb.

The pictures in post 1211 are of a stratocharged saw. And the primer doesn't put gas into the carb, it pulls the gas through the carb, and then puts it back into the tank. reversing the lines where the primer puts fuel into the carb will cause it to dump the entire fuel tank into the saw while setting on the shelf.

So, the line doesn't come from the tank, to the bulb then to the top line on the carb ?
When I push the bulb, gas comes from the tank, fills the bulb and pushes it up to the top of the carb.
You are saying the line from the tank needs to go on the non suction side of the bulb ?
There are three lines on the carb
Pic of what your working with. One line with plastic connector in tank is just a return line. On bottom right side most times.
Left side under carb with fuel filter is the fuel line to carb.

You messing with a NON strato or strato? Some routing are different.

If yours is a newer strato it could be different routing.

Check your routing to see if like this older 2150.

If I recall right the primer lines were all the same size. Only the line from tank with fuel filter on end to carb was smaller.

This was the fuel line routing on this poulan 2150. Marked them A B C and at both end areas to show routing.

in this pic, B comes from tank, to bulb comes out of the bulb as C to the carb.
is B on the suction side of the bulb, and when bulb is pressed, puts fuel to C ?
Then A is a return of course.

I have mine routed where when pushing the bulb, it draws fuel from the tank and fills line C with fuel. But it seems like it runs the carb out of fuel and stops.
Is it possible I have the lines routed wrong ?, Or just a bad carb ?

C connects to the short barb on the primer and B connects to the long barb on the tank. Fuel flow should be from tank to what would be Line A through the carb, to line C to the short barb on primer and then from the long barb on primer to line B back into the tank.

B had the fuel filter on it and went to the primer bulb when I removed the line. A appears to be the return line and just barley stuck in the hole (not down into the gas) in the top of the tank with no filter.

So I don't understand how when the primer is pushed, it can draw gas through Line A, through the carb, then though line C, then Back through the tank through line B, which has the fuel filter installed.

I just may have it so screwed, I need to take it and get is straightened out

The fuel filter takes the fuel directly to the carb.

Then there is a line from the carb to the primer bulb.

Then there is a line from the primer bulb back to the tank.

When you push the primer bulb in, it pushes fuel towards the tank.

When you let the plumber bulb out, it sucks from the carb. This creates a suction in the carb, that sucks fuel from the filter.

Most people think the primer bulb pushes fuel towards the carb. It does not. It pulls it through the carb with suction.

Hope that helps.

I think I'm also going to purchase a new carb.
Can you tell me if the carb in the 1st pic will work instead of the carb in the 2nd pic which is like the carb. on my saw ?

They appear to be the same except for the black plastic linkage vs different linkage in the first pic

Looks like it should operate, but is it listed for your saw. Jet and Venturi size is the real question.

The fuel filter is supposed to be on the A line. Most people will assume that the fuel line to the carb is the large line but it is the small line that is supposed to have the fuel filter and go to the carb. The large line is the return from the primer and will normally terminate just inside the tank
