While I agree it's great to have a happy outcome.....and that this dealer seems like they are re going above and beyond.....

I honestly think this is only because it was their employee(mechanic) that screwed the pooch here.

Had this been any other machine on trade, on an as is basis.....I don't see the dealer doing this.

Just like trading a car into a used dealer. "I" am not a mechanic. It's up to the dealer to check my trade in and make a fair offer right?

Problem here is.....it was the mechanics personal tractor, and admitted he knew it had this issue. Makes them look bad and opens them up to liability. I think that is the only reason for this outcome.

Not quite. It was supposed to be listed as "approximately 2000 hours". It was listed incorrectly at 1555 hours. It's not who owned the tractor. It was sold under false pretense.

If you bought a car from me, signed "as is" then I sent you a banana the as is doesn't stand. I did not send you what I advertised and you purchased.

That's good to hear, it sounds like it was a genuine mistake on their part and they're working to make it right.

As I said before, this speaks well of them; to me, anyhow.

I agree. Good character of the owner. I'm sure if I bought a different tractor from them they'd make darn sure it was correct, but they don't have what I'm looking for. So back to the hunt.

I am seeing more used tractors for sale in Middle Tennessee. Maybe the tractor market is finally starting to loosen up?

After this bad experience, it might be hard to want to buy anything other than a new tractor with a factory warranty.

I've thought about that. But now we're in the $70k+ range which is not a payment I want. I don't really want to go above $35k.

quite a thread...OP: notice you're from New York City? what's the tractor work like given location? forgive me if i missed something...my suggestion is to sit back, sleep on the issue a while before doing anything financially rash. prob smart move to post your issue here
