If a Ram 2500 is more you flavor. Yeah, again, not cheap, but nothing is.

Vinyl seats save $0; as does carpet delete. On this build, I threw a Crew cab, 8 ft bed, and 125V interior and exterior power outlets.

If you dont want/need a 2500; here is a 4x4 Nissian Frontier build, with trailer package, for $38,500. If you want, you can get the same mechanical capabilities upto around $62,000 by doing trim, technology, ect.

It seems like they let you build them but when it comes time to buy the site takes you to "find something similar."
That similar is often some decked out overpriced pimpmobile as they really don't make the base model you just built.

I noticed some of that, but say the Ram, I tried to build a 6'4" bed crew, and the first dozen "similar: where 8 ft beds, but matching equipment (or lack...)

On the Chevy, I selected 2024, and yes, it suggested a $64,000 much higher trim, but i think thats cause of the year?

If you want to buy a basic work truck, seek out dealers that offer commercial fleet sales. They stock those basic trucks and sell a lot of them to businesses.

Here’s a link to a dealer that does these sales in my area. For example:

I could never drive something like that daily, I need leather seats. :) Pretty amazing, it looks like you sit on the fuel tank.

The gas tank in a Model T Ford WAS under the front seat. You had to lift the cushion to access the filler for the tank.

Yes… but their are outliers like speedster bodied.

You can. As it gets to where you want it, push down (or up) again.

I do agree that it's a pain when it starts raining, but my keys are in the truck until I go in for the night anyways.
It's still a stupid feature IMHO.

I like vehicles with a leather interior so get stuck with all the gimmicks including a key fob. Apartment buildings can use a very small plastic fob without a battery. Why can't vehicles?
They do, or at least did in 2019. My Colorado has a chipped key, doesn't need the fob except to remotely lock/unlock. Truck will start & run without the fob.
It doesn't have leather seats though. Nothing I'd want.

One "feature" I dont like are auto lock doors. There are different variants; but when you leave the truck running, get out and close the door; some lock.
What kind of truck? Never heard of that before.
As someone who almost never locks a vehicle, that "feature" would be a deal killer for sure.

I've worn my seatbelt religously since 1980, when I was in a junkyard and saw the damage a person's shoulder can do to the door of a '70s Ford pickup. Yet I don't understand why manufacturers need to make it more and more obnoxious to do things like seatbelts or taking the key out of the ignition. I've spent more time than you can imagine looking for the keys to my company Tundra after fueling the truck.
My state does not require seatbelt use for drivers over 18, and I've been known to not use them from time to time for short drives. Both of my vehicles only ding twice if they're not buckled, once after about a mile and again after 3-ish miles, then it stops.
Once upon a time you could either disconnect the key detection switch, or at least stop the chime by pulling the key out 1/4" or so, but you can't do that anymore. No obvious way to disable the chime either...probably need one of those fancy $$$ scan tools.

$55,050 gets a brand new, 2024, gas, 4x4, Chevy 2500hd, with the stuff I would want (wish you didn't need to add a $2500 package to get 120v outlet in cab).
Or you could just skip the package and get an inverter at HF and wire it in yourself.

I’m sure it could be programmed not to do that. It seems like you can set up door locks to do whatever you want.

Yes, but a clean factory install is nice, although I doubt the factory outlet has the amps available that a good aftermarket setup can.

About that.... I have a truck I bought in the south. No 4x4 never was a problem in NC but here..... can't go anywhere when it rains, snows or ice. I have on my list to fix at least one of the 4x4 trucks my daughter broke this year... or buy another before Nov.
Nothing flat and not a lot of pavement....
Ok, let's talk about 4x4, and off road package. You can get 4x4 in a pretty base set up, or you can get the TRD Pro, Pro4X, FX4, whatever your brand calls it; with extra badging, recovery hooks, skid plate, fancy shocks, and the 4x4 appearance stuff. My Bighorn is 4x4, and its only extra 4x4 banging is like 2" tall "4x4" on the tail gate. Some of those off road packages are easily $7500; vs about $2500 to add 4wd to a package. On a ranger build i experimented with, I did add the E locker for $270; and that is IMO worth it. I dont need 3 ft tall FX4 lettering on the rear window

Ala carte; you dont need the $3500 blacked out alloys with fake beed locks, and all that to get the boat out of the ramp...

Agree don't need or want the fancy off road look, just something to turn more than one wheel and not just one on each axle either.

Makes it easier to pay tolls back when people did such with cash…

We have no more toll takers as now transponder collected and/or photo enforced.

I do like my alloy wheels. Unlike steel, they don't have a gap on the ouside for mud and ice to build up in. I've seen times when I had to pull all 4 wheels just to chip the ice out of them.

How does a visitor pay toll? We have no toll roads in MO so no transponder, a rental car may or may not have it depending where you rented from. What ya gonna do extradite me?
