Just put a soft cab on my tractor for snowblowing

I would like to see some pictures of these soft cabs in action via some actual owners if possible. If anyone gets a chance let us know how they perform when the snow is blowing.

Someone I knew has a canvas shop make a cab. They used sunbrella Material, eisen glass for three sides, and some other material for the front wind shield. He built a frame with Kindorf. It came out great. Total cost was 700.

I do not think I could justify a cab tractor, but to the 1 or 4 times a year I may need to plow snow it might be nice to have a soft cab to put on if they are actually functional. I would like to see photos of one being utilized in windy cold weather.

Are they stout enough for a 35-40 MPH day?

How are the plastic windows in low temps?

I also have a 3 sided soft cab for my Craftsman GT5000 Garder tractor and have used it for 8 years and it still looks new no rips, cracks or tears. I have used it on very windy days and cold days.

I was sceptical when I bought my first soft cab for the Craftsman tractor.
I bought it from Sears and it was $300

But now that I have had a soft cab I did not hesetate to buy one for the Cub/Yanmar tractor.

This will be my second winter with this cab on my tractor. Last year I was very happy to have it. It did keep the blowing snow and wind from me inside. The electric heater kept me warm. Did not even need to wear gloves just wore my insulated coveralls, a knit cap, and insulated boots and I was almost working up a sweat. The plastic soft sides are still in excellent shape showing no scratching. I washed it in the fall with soapy water, rinsed, and dried with a microfiber towel.

Yeah I think one key to these types of cabs being something that wors for years to come it how you take care of it because it is somewhat fragile. If you leave your tractor outside every day it is most likely not going to last. If you don't handle the doors & vinal panels gently they will get ruined. If you do not carefully clean the panels, then store them on a soft, clean surface the windows will get ruined. Just think "Jeep top".

If it's going to be ugly than it has to at least work. This is my cab and this will be the third year I will be using it. It works for me keeping all the blasts of blown snow off my face. I am equipped with a rear snowblower and all I have to do is reach beneath the rear window panel and turn the crank to change snow chute direction. A quick bachhand from the inside of the cab knocks the wet snows off with out a doubt. Dryer colder snows don't stick.

I have a top lid on the Rops. I stuck a couple pieces of aluminum angle bar ujp and down to catch the front of the tractor lid. Then I simply attached a couple of screws to the FEL frame to hold the front supports and top sturdy. Across that I have placed a 1 X 6 with the sharp edges rounded off so as not to cut through the vinyl. That 1 X 6 serves me well to keep the shape of this golf cart encosure serving double duty as a snow blower cab.

I get a little heat back in cab from engine and my feet are always tucked in warm boots so the air conditioned floor of tractor operating area comes with no extra charges.

You can buy these golf cart covers when they are on sale from Northern Tool for $79.00. Use them on the golf course all Summer and for a tractor cab in the Winter. ($99 regular price) When the thing gets dirty, you fork over less than a hundred bucks and buy a new one.

I have a cab that was made by a canvas shop. Total cost was $450. I will post pictures when I install it the next few weeks...still finishing up using the backhoe and have about a dozen logs to skid out of the woods before I change over to the winter fighting gear.

I was looking at somebody's pics of an "original tractor cab" brand here on TBN. It looked like a pretty nice cab for what seemed to be a fair price. ($700 IIRC)
I have never seen one directly and don't know much about them.....but you may want to check into that brand.

I put one on a Cub Cadet GT3200. It needs a tack weld on the front uprights to get them to sit just right (so that the door sits square), but otherwise, seems like a good deal.
I got the glass windshield, wiper and mirror kits with it, then bought LED foglights and an LED strobe from Amazon. Still need to wire them up.

Nice rig and nice place there. I grew up in Guilderland and lived there for the 1st 30+ years of my life. I get home to visit Mom every couple of months. Looks like you are ready for the capital district winter fun!
