.... on the PM site:

I'd love about a dozen of what they have listed, but if I had to pick only one, I'd make it a Scout II :D

I was reading up on the diesel Scouts...... forgot that it was a Nissan motor......

That article reminded me how well the SSII's did in the Baja 1000 back when.... it was a different time, but still, an impressive win for a privateer.....

I know a guy that has a diesel Scout.

I think the last year had a turbo - somewhat rare in a light-diesel of that era.

Nicely done. The Wagon looks like a very capable plow-truck (I peeked at your other pics).

Thanks. I plowed with the PW for a couple years. It's crude, but it worked. Wear out your clutch leg as the plow lifts via the PTO winch (and of course it's a manual transmission). I've made my way up to a 74" front blower on a Kubota L3940. I'd post a picture, but this is a truck thread. :D

The intent with the PW is a full resto-mod type restoration. Get everything straight & dent free again. Go through all of it. Put disc brakes on it. Put in hardened valve seats for non-leaded gas. Just make everything work again.

Actually, the stiff clutch served to keep you warm plowing. Mine had a hydraulic plow lift (jury-rigged PS pump iirc) but the shifting was plenty chore enough. Mine had a sloped hood - does that make it a military model? Didn't know much then, and less now.

Please populate a thread with lots of pics as that project moves along ..... many TBN'ers will want to know !

Probably be some stuff here, too:

I have some other projects to finish off first. Finishing the basement, level and gravel the drive (900ft-ish), heat in the garage, etc.
But yeah, I'll try to.

It was an adventure just getting the dang thing titled in my name, which I did a few months back (after having it for more than 10 years). The envelope that the original title came in had postage of about $0.03. Far cry from our rates these days.

Not sure on the sloped hood......

Yes the last year, 1980 had a turbo. I'm pretty sure his is a 79.

Perhaps old news if you work in the Oilpatch, or wear certain uniforms, but I just came across them....

This looks like an LMTV (light military truck) to me, civi version.
Occasionally I get the notion of buying a surplus one and building a camper for it... till I see the likely 6mpg.

Looks like they were originally developed for Uncle Sam.

They have the option for highway gearing, but they'd never be a candidate for hyper-miling ;)

Back-country camper..... I was thinking the same.....

The LMTV is essentially a US-production of the Austrian Steyr 12m18, with CAT engine & Allison transmissions.
