Kioti resale

I think Dargo and Bob S had reasonable points regarding resale value of Kioti tractors. They are not at this moment holding value as well as a JD or Kubota but the trend is pretty clearly to close the gap. I think it was Bob that commented (in the earlier thread that has disappeared /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif) that Kioti has parallels in the Hyundai and Kia auto lines from Korea. It takes a while to build brand recognition and quality reputation but when that happens the used values catch up pretty quickly.

No, Bob wasn't in on it at all. That was a PM from Dargo that I shouldn't have posted without getting his permission. It was all quoted from Dargo. I thought he made a good point.

Ebay doesn't really tell you much because a couple of these didn't even meet the reserve so I doubt that they actually sold.

Also as to Hyundai and Kia,these guys are spending millions on national television to get their brand and name/quality out to the buying public.When was the last time you saw a national tv ad for Kioti? It will take a while just advertising in a farm coop or regional publications.

It will take word of mouth and time for Kioti to get recognized as a top notch tractor.

I’ve been looking at a few Kioti 1914’s. Have to wonder though after seeing ads like this and hearing of another 1914 where the dealer said they needed to look at it because it was popping out of gear. May or may not be isolated, but doesn’t make one feel very confident.

221 hours and...... “$6500 "as is" or $7900 after run through shop and fixed, has serious engine blow-by problem.”

A possible reason for lower resale?

I’d like to pick up a similar sized machine with loader in the 5-7k range then a Z-Turn for mowing, but seeing things like that doesn’t give one a good feeling, though I like their honesty.

That ad is for a ten year old tractor. I doubt very seriously that it has only 221 hours as stated.

Would you expect a ten year old car not to have some problems?

I can assure you, the popping out of gear problem you mention is an isolated incident.

This tractor very likely has several thousand hours on it and it's just on another run through the hour meter.
