Korean tractor dilemma

   / Korean tractor dilemma #31
The point is, it appears that korean built tractors are not built as well as kubota, deere, yanmar, massey. Seeing how i am 2 for 2 with them. Do i bite the bullet and spend the extra money up front for a so called name brand in hopes of having better results or do i try another korean built one and hope 3rd times a charm. I can tell you its not from how i am using them. I can also tell you that if you had been buying korean built tractors instead of kubotas , you wouldnt of had such good luck.
That is your opinion.
My previous tractor was a John Deere 850 (built by Yanmar)
Was my John Deere a better built, more reliable tractor than my Kioti DK 35 I have owned the past 23+ years = NO
My Kioti has been great.
23 years and 2500+ hours, still working like new and it has never been back to the dealer

Is it even possible to buy a Deere from an independent dealer? Are there any left?

Here in Maine I can only think of one off the top of my head; there may be more, but the vast majority are United Ag & Turf.

One consideration about loader lift is 25hp tractors typically won’t be built to lift as much as 50hp mid size ones, but that throws you into DPF systems.

I've been shopping for a (new or lightly used) 75-100 horse utility tractor and the only brand I could find that wasn't "globally sourced" was Kubota.

The Massey 4700 series isn't made in Japan and neither was the Yanmar SM475. I was told the Yanmar was just a rebranded TYM by the deal that I called. JD said their engines were made in the USA, but the rest of the tractor is globally sourced.

So just be sure to check where your specific model of tractor is made. Don't just look at the paint Color and think it's all good. Just because it's a Massey or a Yanmar does not automatically = made in Japan IME.

That might even been the case for Kubota too, I don't know. All the Kubotas I was looking at were made in Japan, but I don't know about their CUT or SCUT range.

Whatever you get, I hope you end up with a reliable tractor that you can trust!

All Kubotas sold new in the U.S. are either Japanese made or a combination of Japan and U.S. sourced components.

Thanks, that is good to know. I guess that makes Kubota the only brand who can make that claim.

I think Yanmar can also make that claim. When you can find them.

I called a dealer about their SM475 (75 horse tractor for $54K). The guy I spoke to told me it was just a rebranded TYM, not a real Yanmar.

That's new, part of a recent partnership between the two. That SM is the first model I've seen made by TYM.

Specifically made in (assembled) in Georgia. The big ones still ship in containers from Japan (and Italy) and the little ones are made here with, I believe crated engines made in Japan.

Any time I see the blurb 'globally sourced components', I cringe.

Kind of like the blurb 'World Class Manufacturing'.... To me that equates to anywhere it's cheaper.
