Kubota BX2200 or B7500

   / Kubota BX2200 or B7500 #21
Actually the 3-point on the B2410 has a lift capacity of 1655 lbs compared to the B7500 at 1356 lbs. It also has a larger fuel capacity by 1.3 gallons, slightly larger tires and a larger engine displacement. If the 7500 had Position Control it would be more attractive to me. I also did not see the 7500 has a sufficient step up from my BX. Now that the BX lives with my parents I miss it a lot but I cannot convince them they would like the 2410 more so I could trade them for it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif J

O.K., I'm as good as spending someone else's money as the next guy, so here goes.

IF you think the B7500 and backhoe is your best solution, just for ha-ha's, get a price quote on a B7800, B2710 or B2910 (your choice, B7800 will be cheapest, I think) with a 7 1/2 foot backhoe. You're going to be in the $20k range or so anyway, what's another $2,000 or so. Noticeable jump in the capabilities of the 7 1/2 foot backhoe over the 6' for not too much additional "backhoe" dollars.

Just a suggestion. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Rick,

Thanks for the response. I was actually thinking that the swing arc might be a problem for me, too. I will be digging on the side of a hill and figured the best approach would be backing straight up the hill. With 180 degree swing, I should be able to dig a trench along the width of the hill. With only 140, it seems it would take a lot more moving of the tractor to accomplish the same thing, or having to have the tractor 20 degrees from straight up/down.

As for looking further up in size, I can get the BX22 for 14,500. It gets difficult to justify going up to (or over) 20,000 when it appears that the BX22 will do what I want, even if slower. Generally speaking, how fast the job gets done isn't critical. If it were, I would probably hire it out anyway.

Thanks for all of the feedback, especially since I co-opted somebody else's post. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I need to go talk to the dealer and get to the nitty gritty on trade-in and what he might do on price for a B2410. I think those are my two choices to make.

Just as a reference point...

Last summer when I was Kubota hunting, I decided to buy a B2410 with loader and backhoe.

At the last moment I asked "how much more for the B2910?'

Cost me $2,000 over the B2410...and included the bigger backhoe [I think I remember that the 2410 doesn't take the bigger hoe, if it does then the hoe was the same] and stronger loader.

Like everyone else says, I know we are happy to spend your money...but when I heard the difference in price it just made sense for me to go with the B2910.

perrycounty,

Are you still there? This thread got a little hijacked somewhere along the way, sorry, I hope we didn't scare you away.

Now that we've got Kevin talked into a B2910 with loader and backhoe (he doesn't know it yet, but he'll find out soon /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif) let's try to get back to your situation. As you can tell, some of use eat, sleep & breathe TBN so if you're away for a few days.....

I'll start off by suggesting an L4610. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Just kidding. Do you have any more questions?

I was eating supper when I made that last reply. I, too, have activated a wireless network and now with me notebook can be connected to TBN anywhere in the house.

Well, almost anywhere....I haven't tried the bathroom yet...but that's usually where I catch up on my tractor brochure reading. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Mine even works about 250' down back at my pond...so I'll bet yours would work in any room in the house!

Then again...I don't know how big your house is... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

perrycounty,

Sorry for hi-jacking your thread. Back to your topic. Being a BX2200 owner who has now taken a reasonably serious look at a B7500, here's what I found. Comparing list prices for BX2200 vs B7500HSD, you are looking at a little better than an 18% increase in price with their respective loaders. For that 18% you get:

Pros: <ul type="square"> [*]Better ground clearance (5.3 inches more)
[*]Higher 3pt lift capacity (700lbs more)
[*]Physically a little larger, with larger tires
[*]43% more FEL lift capacity
[*]18% more FEL breakout force
[*]Less problematic 3pt attachment compatibility [*]I think the B7500 has independent braking, the BX does not
Cons: <ul type="square"> [*]Negligible decrease in HP (1 gross, .7 PTO)
[*]Negligible loss of FEL lift height (1.8 inches)
[*]Possibly somewhat less stable on hills (very subjective)
All-in-all, I would say the 18% increase in price buys you at least 18% more capability. Assuming that the BX can do what you want, the B7500 should be slightly better/faster at it. So what it comes down to is potential stability on hills and ground clearance, which in my opinion are the two heads of the same coin. You will likely trade one for the other no matter which two tractors you compare. As far as the frame being lighter on the BX, I don't know that I've heard that before. It's dimensionally somewhat smaller, and it may weigh a little less (not sure about this), but as far as strength goes, I don't think there's a significant advantage to one over the other. You will be just as likely to break the B7500 as the BX2200.

Good luck whichever you choose. They are both great machines and I think you would be happy with either.

In comparing these machines engine specs I think you are better off comparing displacement than horsepower. HP is to easily subjected to the whims of an agressive marketing department. Remember... the engine in the bx2200 was considered a 17HP engine when it was used in the b1700 and rated at 2600 rpm.
