Backhoe Kubota BX2360 and Woods Subframe Question

/ Kubota BX2360 and Woods Subframe Question #31
Bacfin - I am in Northeast Ohio... 230 miles from Rosseel's.. about a 4 hr drive. I could go there if I had too but it would be a long day. Shipping was quotes as $184 to my house.

I still have not got the local woods dealer to give me a price. I think I am going to call a few more dealers.

I drove a JD2305 yesterday and liked it but its heavy. That is a plus in some ways but I think its down to the Kubota BX2360...just still trying to figure out how I can pull off the BX25.

On your BX25 I take it you have the rear lift arms. Do they stay on the tractor with the backhoe on or do you have to take them off? Is their spread or travel limited at all due to the bh?

This one concern I have with adding a BH6000 later to a BX2360... everything I read suggest the sub-frame kit limits the full spread of the arms in the fully raised position.

The 3PH has to come off for the BH to mount but as you probably know, the upper arms stay on (really can't take those off - just trying to be clear). There is no impact on raising or lowering the upper arms and I don't think the upper arms spread so no issue there either (I think the spread is all on the lower arms with the vertical lift arms swinging left/right also to accommodate the lower arm spread.) I was surprised to see the 3PH stays active when the BH is connected - thought it might be bi-passed when the BH is connected.

Thanks Chris... that is good to know.

I rented a mini excavator today to remove some tree stumps. I know this thing has a lot more digging force than a small bh but it certainly is useful. Its making me want that BX25 right from the start.

One word of caution when buying things on e-bay.... I got a "new" B70x woods attachment for my 2320. When the backhoe arrived I realized why the price was so good ($5700 with subframe) - the attachment I received was faded pink vs kubota orange....so although technically new, this unit was probably sitting on the lot for a few years. Now I have a new orange tractor with a pink backhoe - my Deere friends like this a bit to much.

100_1427.jpgHi folks,

I purchased a BH6000 from Rosseel's about 9 months ago and have nothing but good things to say. I saw their listing on ebay but choose to contact them direct. They shipped the backhoe within 2 days of the purchase. It took one week to ship here to southeastern ma and the shipping was very reasonable. The unit was definately new new new. Paint was a perfect match.

Now, I bought the hoe only. I fabricated my own subframe due to wanting to incorporate the best features of the Woods subframe and the Kubota subframe. I mounted it on my BX2350. It works great. I would recommend Rosseel's without any reservations.

I am very curious about your experience if you buy the BH6000 from that guy in MI on ebay. I too have contacted him and got pricing. He seems to be the best pricing around.

I don't have a tractor yet and can't quite afford the BX25 so I am looking at the BX2360... Some day I will be faced with trading vs by a woods decision because I know I want a bh.

I have spoken with two Kubota deales and they really discourage putting the woods on any BX model... one of them is even a woods dealer too. They try to push the BX25.

The pricing I got is;
THE BX25 WITH LOADER /BACKHOE $16950.
54 " DECK $1700.
60" DECK $1900.

BX1860 WITH 54 DECK AND FRT LOADER $12,500
BX2360 WITH 60 DECK AND FRT LOADER $14,250.

When you look at this the BX25 with 60" MMM is total $18,850

The BX 2360 with 60" MMM + approx. $5000 BH6000 (MI guy) = $19,250

Thats only $400 difference.

You are also going to need to buy some hydraulic parts, the seat swivel, and do all the work yourself yourself. You will have no warranty on the Woods if you install it yourself. If you make errors on the install (overtorque the bolts and damage the tractor frame) you could void parts of the warranty on the tractor.

While 1%-2% more powerful than the bh on the BX25, the Woods BH6000 is more complicated to get on and off than the bh on the BX25. The 4ph on the Woods also blocks the 3ph from lifting to full height IF the lift arms are spread to their absolute full width. The lift arms hit the "ears" (guide bars) that protrude from the 4ph. I sawed mine off and ground them smooth to eliminate this problem, but there is now less margin for error during alignment when reattaching the bh. Matt Baynard (Scrounger) documented this same mechanical problem in his report of installing his BH6000. His post has pics of the 3ph lift arms hitting the 4ph ears.

Bruce, good deal. I'm very interested in how you make out on the Woods hoe since I was in your shoes just a few months ago. Please let us know how the install goes (assuming you do it yourself??) and take some pic's.

For me, the Woods BH was going to run roughly $6K, while a trade in cost me about $10K. My BX1860 was two years old and I decided to trade it in and apply the money I was going to spend on the BH towards a BX25. I ended up with a relatively small payment on the BX25; less than what I had on my BX1860 though the term is longer, so that's part of the difference.

Good to know you can buy the BX25 ROPS. I like the folding ROPS since there are a few trees I could not get my BX1860 under for mowing, though I mow 90% of the time with my old Wheel Horse garden tractor. I just have to remember to fold it down when entering the garage or parking it in my shed.

Hi All,

Well the backhoe is installed and working great. The install was not as clean as I would have liked. There were a couple of issues with the subframe which makes me think it is not meant for the 2360 even though Woods engineering told me it is the same as the 2660. The first issue I ran into was the guard for the hydraulic fan. I had to remove it and modify it because the subframe design did not allow it to be reinstalled. The other issue was no bolt holes for the platform supports. I had to drill them out myself which is no big deal, just an inconvenience. The hydraulics were straight forward and went together fine, but the seat support design is terrible. After swiveling the seat around and lifting it into the operating position, there is no way to lock it in place so if you lean back, the seat falls back down. The other seat issue is the OPC wiring loom gets hung up when sliding the seat back and forth and I can foresee the wiring getting yanked apart at some point. I am looking into options to improve this.

Even with these small problems, this backhoe is a real performer without a doubt. I just ordered a 16" bucket to help speed up digging and backfilling. Thanks to everyone for there input and help!

Bacfin, thanks for the update. I'm still curious about the Woods BH6000 as I seriously considered it for my BX1860. Not surprised on the fan guard since that was a mid-run change by Kubota. I actually removed mine too to mount my old Bro-Tek skid plate. Now I wonder if that would have interfered with the sub-frame. Didn't even think about it.

The Woods seat design was one of my concerns based on reading some old posts here. My thought when I was deciding was that if I didn't like the Woods set up, I'd try to order just the seat rotation parts from a BX25. I never priced those parts, but it's something you might want to look into. The BX25 has a two small diameter metal dowels that the seat hooks onto in the front and rear. It's a pretty neat design. Not sure how your OPS would work with the BX25 set up since my seat has two kill switches. I think one is for running the rear PTO which is functional with the seat in the BH position vs flipped up on the other BX's.

Over on MTF, there's an older thread about a guy who added a Kubota BH601/600 to his BX2230 (I think that was the model) and he fabbed up a separate seat for the BH that was mounted to some steel tubing and hooked into the top link bracket. He made a right angle frame with the tubing and mounted the seat to that somehow. He could put in on or take it off by simply pinning it to the top link bracket. Just an thought if you're into fabrication.

Now that you have it installed, how easy or hard is the BH hook up or removal? That was another concern I had based on input from Tom H, IIRC. Anyway, good luck with it. I'm jealous of the pin on thumb as it looks better than my bolt on version.
