Looks like they have the L3700 on the website now.

Boy I don't know guys, I use the cruise control on my L3400 alot when mowing and other tasks. Not sure I'd want a hydrostatic trans without it.

I'm the same, for mowing an open field it's a nice feature. I don't have cruise per se, but the hand throttle is the same for gear models.

To someone that anticipates almost all loader work or variable speed use, or a new owner that's not sure they want it or not, it's something they won't probably miss.

Having said that, it limits the appeal of the new model to a few of us.

Sounds like a nice machine. Curious to hear if the 3 point operates smooth like butter or a bit choppy, like mine.

the 3700 is outwardly identical to the 3400 with the exception of the cruise control. It has the same bracket, but no lever. It would be easy to buy the lever and attaching hardware from a 2800/3400 and install it.

According to the website, cruise control is available on the L3700 as an option.

Just compared side by side on Kubotas website. Some interesting things if true.........

L3400 has high back adjustable seat........L3700 does not

L3400 has cruise control...........L3700 does not

L3400 3pt hitch at lift point is 1985.........L3700 3pt at lift point is 1998

L3400 crankcase capacity is 6.0qts.........L3700 crankcase capacity is 7.5qts

L3400 transmission & hydro capacity is 7.3qts...........L3700 tran & hydro capacity is 6.2qts

L3400 shows no power steering (but I thought they had it) ...........L3700 has power steering

Other than that they are identical, BUT, I find it very interesting that the new L3700 has a bigger oil pan by 1.5qts which is a lot. Also interesting is that the L3400 trans capacity is more than a quart more than the L3700

Now I am basing these numbers strictly off of the Kubota website, so if they are wrong, don't shoot the messenger. ;)

So to sum it up, they gave the bigger HP engine more oil but less trans fluid other than the obvious missing amenities. The power steering is something a current owner can answer. Yes or no?

Base pricing gives the L3700 exactly $1K less cost.

Interesting.

Mine has PS. If you look at the specs they list two hydraulic oil capacities for the tractors. One is the main, the other is the PS capacity. Not sure why they list it as it has no bearing on the tractor performance. Also, the L3700 has slightly higher hydraulic GPM output than the 3400.

I use cruise control in the cars all the time but rarely on my B2920. I just didn't see it as a deal breaker. I'll take 1-1/2 HP for $1000 less over cruise control anytime. Maybe if I get bored, I'll add it.

Actually they are identical, both 1998 lbs.

Yes to power steering

So to sum it up, they gave the bigger HP engine more oil but less trans fluid other than the obvious missing amenities.

The different numbers might be mis-prints or different method of measuring. Displacement, bore and stroke are identical. In my opinion it's the same engine with a tweak to the injection pump to give 1.7 more gross HP. They did that in 2009 as well, mine has the "Xtra Power" decal to indicate there is one extra horse available under the hood.

Base pricing gives the L3700 exactly $1K less cost.

They trimmed a few bits off and dropped the price on the same basic tractor. The fuel pump tweak didn't cost them anything other than the cost of new decals. I'm curious about the seat now, I'll drop into the dealer tomorrow and see if it actually IS different. Assuming they still have the tractor.

I'd like to know what drove the change in marketing strategy, and whether they fixed the 3ph "jumpy" issue at the same time. Mine isn't too bad, but it's something Kubota should have fixed early on. The 3400 was and still is a very popular tractor for them, it might have had something to do with being able to offer a nice even 30 PTO HP with an HST tranny.
The different hydraulic flow might be a typo, the 3400 is 6.3 gpm, the 3700 is 6.8. Power steering flow is the same.

Engine displacement IS different. 100 cubic inch for the L3400 111 cubic inch for the L3700.
