I would like a small tractor w/ a loader. I don't need to dig, but just move piles of dumped dirt, gravel, sand, or other heavy objects, such as rocks (landscaping material). I'll also need to use a 3pt 60" finish mower. Can a B2410 w/ loader be productive? I don't need to set any records on speed. Can I go any smaller? I want hydro 4wd ps. Any ideas?

Let certainly hope so!!!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I have one on order and plan on doing everything you mentioned plus some... Seriously, I believe most people on this board will advise you that the "smaller" machines can do much of what the larger ones can, just a little more slowly. You can certainly move your dirt pile or gravel, it just might take a little longer than if you were using a B2910. It is all relative. I decided that the B2410 was just the right combination of size, weight, power, and price for me. Every body has a different application and needs to decide just what the best combination is for them.

Craig, The 2410 certainly will do what you want done. I think that you could go smaller (BX, 7400,7500) if price is a major concern. All of these models will move loose materials and handle the 60" mower, so you can't go wrong. They all have hydro and power steering, except for the 7400.

Craig,

If you want opinions, you came to the right place! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif We've all get 'em! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Seriously. Of course the B2410 can do what you describe. I think the only issue is what you might term the "scale" of what you need to do in terms of loader work. Take a look at the specs for the BX, and all of the B series. Decide what you need in terms of "bite", and buy accordingly. How big are the rocks? <400lbs, go for the BX, 400-600 lbs go for the B7500, >600lbs, go for one of the larger B series. >1200lbs start looking at L series.

As for the 60" finish mower, I think all the BX and B series can handle that as well. Do you have any hills? How rough is the land? How "sensitive" is the land (is the soil soft)? If you have soft/sensitive soil, then smaller is better.

I have a B2410 that I bought a year ago. I have 12 acres and 1400 feet of gravel driveway. I just had 25 tons of gravel delivered and spread it with the loader and box blade. I love the tractor and have had no problems with it. I almost didn't get the FEL when I bought the tractor but now find I use it more than anything else. We bought some trees last weekend and when I got them home found that they weiged about 300 lbs each. I used the FEL to get them out of the trailer and put them into place. Now if I just had a small back hoe to dig the holes. It is a great tractor. It still surprises me when I see some of the logs I can pull with it and I am running the turf tires.

Craig,
I have bx2200 and run a 60" 3pt mower with no problem. The loader will move your dirt, sand etc it just has about a 450lbs lift limit. The B2410 will lift more so loader work will go faster. The 2410 should run the mower no problem. I don't think you would see much difference between the 2 for mowing. How much you want to spend and how much weight you need to lift will be bigger deciding factors.

CRAIG:i have a b2400. i love it. i use R4 tires, and have found them to be a good choice. the 2410 will do all u ask and then some.have found more uses for it than i imagined when i bought it, so if price is NOT a major concern, go with the 2410. the 7500 is a great machine(almost bought it) but for me the 2400 was just what the dr. ordered. good luck in your search

Boluca,

Did you set your trees out yet? I will be doing some planting in a few weeks also, and a backhoe isn't an option, so I was planning on using a post-hole digger. I know I can't run a tree auger (probably just a 9" or 12") but I'm wondering how the post-hole digger will work for just starting the holes, or maybe digging a few holes close together then digging the rest out by hand. I'd like to cut down the amount of clamshell and shovel work I have to do.

Post hole digger will work fine--especially a 12". As you said, just drill 2 or 3 holes and hand dig to clear to the right size.
