Kubota Super UDT and filters.

Super UDT2 replaced Super UDT....
We use UDT in gear drive Kubota tractors and wherever the original operators manual specifies it. We use SUDT2 in hydrostatic, glideshift and hydraulic shuttle tractors. I am now in the Foothills of NC.

Southern climates dont benefit as much from the cold weather performance of SUDT2. So, geared machines in warmer climates at a minimum.

I have 2011 BX 25 with 1500 hours. Since the first change at 50 Hrs I have used NAPA fluids and filters. Their 85-405 spec is very close to the SUDT2 by Kubota. NAPA has several price levels. I get either their Fleet price or Military price depending on which is less on everything. If I remember correctly 5 gallons last time was around $50 +/-. Filter discount is about the same. I use Chevron Delo 400LE lube oil in everything. Same discount. You have to ask for their discounts or you will pay the counter price. I have been shopping at NAPA for over 50 years. Great customer service by knowledgeable sales people, mostly former mechanics.
I discussed fluids with my dealers service manager and shop foreman. The both told me confidentially that not using SUDT2; but any other high grade hyd fluid would not affect the warranty. Advised me not to use UDT or any general hyd fluid especially chain store brands like Walmart. They also said once the fluid is in the HST there is no way to tell the difference w/o expensive testing which is never done. SUDT2 is made by Valvoline and is not anything really special. The parts department sales guys have to promote their branded product to keep up their sales profit center. The noise level one way or another contention; I could not tell the difference. All HST whine, its their nature.

Blackstone Labs charges less than $30.00 for a hydraulic oil analysis, and if asked, will offer their opinion on its serviceability. I trust their judgement. I also expect that if the lab is in error there would be some readily apparent symptoms before a catastrophic failure.

So do I. I've used Blackstone for many years. Spectroscopic analysis is really foolproof. I've extended my lube oil changes because of them so it pays for itself.
