Buying Advice L series, what makes it Grand?

/ L series, what makes it Grand? #11
The L30 Series does not have HST+, that was introduced with the L40. The standard L Models will be Lxx00 while Lxx30 or Lxx40 denotes the Grand L.

EDIT: crazyal got it about the same time.

Great input, but my question is: When doing a search for L series Kubotas, how do you know if it is a Grand series or not. Would it be a "GLxxxx"? Or are there L series that are just known to be in the Grand category.

The Grand series xx30, xx40 and now i think xx60 is a series of deluxe compact tractors, offerring a variety of transmissions and hp options whereas the "L" series are a series of not necessasrily ecomony tractors but basis workhorses. Go to the Kuboto website and pick a hp range and compare side by side the differences in the L series vs the GL aka Grand L series

The Lxx30 and Lxx40 series are Grand L Series. The Lxx00 are not Grand L Series. The exception is the L3030 which I do not think is a Grand L.

HST+ is worth every penny? To who? Not to me its not but I don't own one either.

Just like many things, it is to some and not to others. I had the standard HST on my L5030 and am very happy with the L5740 with HST+. The HST+ did not put me over the line to an L40 though as the L5030 is a great tractor, Tier IV on the L60 with increased cost put me over as I knew I would eventually wear the L5040 out.

Thanks all, it seems the L30 does not offer all that much in "grand" options. It has a improved instrument cluster and improved 3 point lift cylinders. But does not seem to incorporate the Hst+.

I am not trash talking HST+, just saying to me it is not worth every penny. My HST is fine for me.

Aways check the 3 point with a heavy implement for jerky lift on the standard L series. It may or may not bother you.

I didn't take what you said as trash talking and understand. There are lots of Kubota owners who don't feel it's worth the cost either and go with the standard L or MX Series tractors.

I believe there is a difference in an eHydro on a John Deere and standard HST isn't there or am I mistaken. Some of us go for added features and some don't.

When I bought my L5030, I stated out thinking I would buy a standard L Series, but after seeing the added features of the Grand L even in the L30 Series, I decided the added features were worth it to me. The operators platform had more room, was easier to get on and off and had the other features mentioned in my first post. Whether those are worth it is something we must determine for ourselves, but it was the way to go for me.

Disposable income can be a factor in deciding between the Grand L HST+ and standard geared L. When I moved up in size from a B7800 that was payed off I chose the Grand L3240. If I had been trading and still owed $12000 on my trade in I probably would not have gone for the Grand L which was Grand indeed with its "extra" features.
When I bought an "extra" tractor one time, I kept my BX25 and bought the cheapest geared B2320 that Barlows could get me new. Big mistake and so shortly thereafter I traded the B2320 (GEARED) and BX25 to a new B2620 HST FEL BH. Guess I did the penny wise and pound foolish program or I think I did.
