Congratulations! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I am considering moving up to a B2910 or B7800. I want a L3130, but find it hard to justify it for my uses. It's just that everytime I think of the extra capacity for the few extra dollars - well, you know! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What really scares me is that if I had a L3130, what would I be dreaming of then? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Can we ever be satisfied that we have enough size and power? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I better stop - think I'm getting depressed! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Congrats again - go move something - you should be able to move alot with that rig! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

tlphlps, I found that this really is not an issue. I had a L48 which quite frankly was on the smaller side of what I have generally worked with in the past. It seemed to be the closest compact to a full size industrial piece of equipment I could find. After having it and recently selling it, I came to the conclusion that for my uses, any of the L30 series would be more then adequate and in many ways superior to the larger units in terms of everyday use and funtionality. I also decided that if I ever need to move large quatities of earth that I don't want to wear out a smaller tractor dealing with, I'll rent one for a day or find a guy with a dozer to move it around. As much as I hate hiring or renting, it really makes a lot more sense. The L30 series as well as the JD 4X10 and NH TC35D and up all fit this category. The smaller Kubotas like the B series would be a little to small for my large mower and box blade. As you mentioned, the L3130 really is a great setup. Big loader, good size footprint, and most of all a price not much over the smaller units with really most of the benefits of the bigger units. I was very set on one until my dealer said for my mower a L3830 would be a little more appropriate. I'm still not so sure. I really like the size of the L3130/L3430. They are sure to be a big success for their class. Rat...

Dear Frank,

Wait a minute, guys! Get in line, I get to try it out first!

PS: I'm the one who talked him into getting the cab (with A/C) and I threw in the CD player too! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Rat,

I'm certainly still in the "figuring it out" stages, but there are alot of reasons the B2910/B7800 would make more sense for me. To name just a few, my 12 yo son operates the tractor in limited situations and I think the smaller size would really benefit him - and if that isn't enough, I will be training my other children over the next few years to operate the tractor as well. For that reason alone, I should keep the BX22 - I certainly don't need anything larger than the B2910 for them to learn on. As a side point, I learned on larger tractors, but at a later age and mostly in large open areas with few obstacles - what little yard we had we used a push mower for. Now days, much of tractor use here is mowing 4 acres, but only about 3 of that really open. I don't allow my oldest to mow in close to all the obstacles - like my truck! Other things like tilling is great learning experience - garden area almost 1/2 acre. I also have implements that I'd like to keep rather than sell cheap to invest in larger ones. I can use the 42" Land Pride tiller, the 5' light duty box blade, and the 4' medium duty hog with the B2910 and not have too much mismatch. Can you imagine how a L3130 would dwarf those implements! Most of what I do the BX will handle, just a little too slowly for my liking (and I don't use the hoe enough to have that much money tied up in it). A few things I need like a regular size post hole digger, the BX just isn't made for. Anyway, now that I have typed maybe the longest post ever for me, I'm gonna shut up! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Your points are all valid, and with just a few things different, I would join you in the L series bliss! To be honest, at this point I would consider the B2910 pretty blissful - for that matter, I still thoroughly enjoy the BX 90% of the time. It's an amazing little hunk of tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Haz,

I can relate, my wife required me to get the rear bagger with by BX1800 /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif But who can complain, she did let me get the unit to begin with /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If it's got a cab, a/c and a CD player is it really a tractor? It's kinda like "camping" in a motorhome, 5th wheel or the like!!!

Frank,

You are definitely right, Katie is a keeper. Not too easy to find these days, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot the the wives of TBNers are great gals. We are just trying to get back to some old tried and true methods of living and raising our family and a farm and tractor is a good start. Only have one more day till the new orange baby arrives. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif One nice thing is this one won't keep us up at night for the next three months. Dave is delivering the tractor tomorrow at 10 AM and I have the day off from work. We are having a picnic for some family friends tomorrow afternoon so we're keeping busy getting ready for it.

I love this thread. Here is a guy who appreciates the value of a cab tractor as well as a good stereo. I've enclosed a picture of your tractor's BIG BROTHER for your enjoyment. It has given me a lot of enjoyment for the few months that I've owned it. We are going to start cutting hay in about 3 weeks. Your Kubota's big brother is going to get a hard workout. I'll be sure to post pictures on this site with the 5030 running our hay implements including our 13 foot throat mower conditioner and our NH 600 series round baler.

I know you will really apperciate the AC this summer. I've already used mine and it works really well.

Frank,

You're right about the timing. The tractor came at around 11 AM right after our friends with children arrived. It was a little tough to pay attention when the dealer was going over everything. The little children kept coming over to check it out but we finally had to send everyone away before using the brush hog. After lunch I got to play (I mean work) for about 2 hours in the upper field vaporizing all the briar bushes. It was great fun. Also dug out an old apple tree. Hit a few hidden rocks /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif(you guys are right that it makes a lot of noise when you hit a rock). The cab came in really handy when I went through a section of brush with a lot of pollen. It was a yellow dust cloud when I hit it with the FEL. I would have looked like a bumble bee if I didn't have the cab. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif The CD is a little hard to hear with the brush hog going. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice so I'll be out there again. Oh, I did let Katie try it out for about 3 minutes. I'll have to let her use it a little more tomorrow. I'll take my digital camera tomorrow for some pics.

HAZ: probably what u need to do is read the manuel, then read it again, then read it while u are sitting on the tractor. enjoy the tractor, it wears off, i have been using tractors for about 50 years now and i expect the fun of it will wear off soon /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif don't let the bride use it too much or u will be sitting on the porch watching her have all the fun! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Is your tractor HST or GST? Mine is GST but with all the dirt work I did this weekend I was wondering if maybe the HST would have been better. If you have the 723 bucket have you looked at where you will/would place chain hooks? And finally what brand is your bucket toothbar?

Mine is HST which is really easy when doing loader work. The dealer put 3 hooks on the FEL bucket. It is the 72" HD bucket and one hook is centered along the top of the bucket and the other two are welded onto the sides near the top of the bucket. I still have to take pictures, probably tomorrow if it doesn't rain. I forgot my camera over the weekend. My toothbar is a Woods and fits over the removable cutting bar really nicely and the toothbar is removable by loosening only two bolts on the sides. I'll take a picture of that too. I would recommend a toothbar to anyone with a FEL.
