L6060 Cab Questions

   / L6060 Cab Questions #61
Well, I picked up my new L6060 HSTC yesterday. I live only 5 miles from the dealership so I drove over there with the old open station L6060 I traded. The temp was +10F with a wind chill of -1F. Even with Carharts & long johns, I had to stop a couple of times to warm up a bit. What a difference taking the new cab model home! As others have said, I could have done it wearing just a T-shirt!

I did notice that the power steering was much stiffer on the cab model over the old open station L6060. It seems to work ok but it requires considerably more effort. I suppose it could loosen up with use but I don't recall the old tractor being that hard to steer when it was new. Anyone else notice this?

Anyway, thanks to all who answered my many "novice" cab model questions!

Congrats on your new tractor!

Congratulations. I didn’t notice tight steering on my 5460 but the range selector was tight when new. Over time it has loosened up. The FEL joystick tends to stick and has not loosened with hours. One of these days I am going to try and figure it out.

Anyone know the purpose of this connector? It's on the left side of the cab behind the support pillar.

Uhmm. I always assumed it was for the quarter glass defroster, but since you have the defroster I have no idea. I'll look into it.

I am not so good at reading wiring diagrams, but it appears to be on the same circuit as the cigarette lighter, and fused at 20a. Had some type of generic lable like "power connector"...

I assumed it was some sort of DC power connector. Not sure what it could be used for but it could come in handy. Maybe for powering something outside the tractor by running a wire through the open window? The same could be done on the opposite side using the cigarette lighter socket.

In any case, thanks for the information!

I assumed the same thing.

That's on all Kubotas, even open station machines. So pretty sure not for a defroster. On the economy Ls for the past generation or 2 it's taped under the left fender. On cabbed Grands it's under the pillar over the left fender. I think it's under the fender for open station Grands as well, but haven't looked.

Pretty sure it's a generic 12v accessory circuit. It's a commonish HAM radio power plug. Original 2 pin Power connector for VHF/UHF Power cords - Power source side | Powerwerx although I forget which gender you need. Powerwerx has both. Or cut it off & put an PowerPole on or better yet something weatherproof if it's open station.

Stuff steering might be the seal for the steering shaft. Mine is very tight on the shaft and I often find it pulled out of the opening in the cab. I thought of using an adhesive to hold it in place but it fits so tightly on the steer shaft I thought it might rip the rubber apart.

After plowing during two snowstorms and 10 hours of use, the steering has loosened considerably. It could be the seal you mention has loosened up a bit but it hasn't pulled loose from the cab. I'll keep an eye on it though.

Thanks for the tip>
