Any real stats to support your statement, more than the two out of dozens that I have logged, mentally, that have found the need to upgrade from a BX class machine ... I'm including the nice MF, Cub, etc tractors ... ?
I don't think I said anything about upgrading from a BX to somthing else. My comment has to do with upgrading what ever it is you have to do other tasks.

If you go the B7800 route, look at a Wood's BH, one that is subframe mounted.

Load the tires to give the machine weight for landscape work.
You will have a machice that will be a bit big for mowing the tight spots. So what? Pick up a used Snapper rider and a push mower for the trim work.

The 7800 I'm looking at has the B4672A Backhoe in the deal, it weighs over 800 lbs so that should be plenty of ballast. I don't think I'll load the tires, from what I'm told by guys that have done that around here, it causes all kinds of rim and rusting problems. Probably won't get a mower attachment (at least not yet), My 2160 Cub does a great mowing job and I think the 7800 is overkill for mowing, but hey maybe when I clear out another two or three acres with the new machine then the cub might start looking awful small!! :)

Yeah, then you could use the 7800 for mowing the wide open spaces and the Cub for mowing more in the immediate vicinity of the house. That sounds like a great plan!

That's interesting about loading the tires. Never heard of rusting problems. My Kubota dealer here always loads the tires. He even loaded the tires on my ZD28 without my asking. Maybe they're using the wrong liquid. Perhaps regular water?

Ooohh! I just checked out the specs on the 7800. It has the Quater-Inching hydraulic control system instead of position control. Is that what you want?

Yeah the QI is the only downside to the whole thing but the rest is fine. The only thing I will use the QI for is grading my driveway maybe once a year with a back blade so I don't really see it being to bad of a thing, a small pain but an acceptable one. I'll be getting a tiller later on and again that's a once a year thing and will probably always be run at the lowest end of the hitch anyways.

The 2630 or the 3030 have all the bells and whistles and appealed to me for a bit but aside from the QI they don't really offer anything I really need and the cost is not cheap to upgrade to these for a few creature comforts. Again I want to pay this in cash so I'm stretching my budget as it is (my natural gas beefeater BBQ is on the back burner for a few extra months this summer because of this) :(

The independant PTO might be OK, but stopping the tractor to fire up the PTO does not seem that big a deal to me and since I won't be using anything but the loader and BH 99% of the time it's not really a consideration. Besides the 3030 has a modern look that kinda bugs me and I think will probably be dated in a few years, I prefer the 7800's appearance as a more classic layout for a tractor.

The 7800 has all the main things I'm looking for without the more fancy comforts. Don't get me wrong I would LOVE to have a 3030, I just don't need one. I'm already seem to be leaning towards the 7800 over a BX24. If I get it and the wife starts yelling at me I'm sicking her on this forum and blaming you guys :) you don't know what kind of disaster that will be!! BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHA...sorry did I type that out loud? :)

This is sorta what I'm doing only on a smaller scale with the 60'' mower on the BX23 and a 54'' mower on the CC GT2554

As far as the B7800 (a fine standard tractor) goes I don't think you'll like the quarter inching valve on the 3 point  It should have been redesigned with the position control a long time ago. I would find another popular budget line tractor of equal HP with position control. You won't regret it. If your dead set on Kubota then i would still consider the 2630 IMHO.

Even my old Long has position control and it would be hard to be as exact without it when it come to skillful 3 point chores.

Taiser,

No more suger coating. For 8 acres and substantial clearing and landscaping the BX series is NOT gonna be right for your situation. I think you are hoping for a lawn mower with superpowers. With 8 acres and some dreams of actually landscaping it the BX series will leave you wanting far more.

I personally would not rely on a sub cut for 8 acres.

Bahhh Humbug...

BX24 - and lots of seat time - you are fine... :)

This thread is the reason they make so many models... just have fun doing it - that's what I say!
