If I keep planting trees at the rate I'm going, I'll soon be looking for a zero for just mowing. .
And one day you will probaly wish that you hadn't planted them.
My inlaws made a trashy jungle out of their place by doing that.
It would cost an arm and a leg to clean that mess up today.

Hey L,

I hope that's not what I end up with. Actually, I got the tree kick from my dad. From as early as I can remember as a kid I was always helping him plant trees around the property. Our old property now looks beautiful. Plenty of large oaks, maples, a few ash and walnut, and some nice spruce lining the driveway.

I've got the trees planted over about 5 acres of yard with plenty of space for the dogs to run, kids to play, etc. Looking forward to seeing my jungle grow.

Wow. A trashy jungle, just by planting trees? How does that happen?

We bought our property because of the number of trees. It's very "park-like" :)
I like the shade, and don't mind mowing around them. I also keep the trees neatly trimmed so all of the branches are higher than my ROPS!

Great pic Andy,

Sorta the same "trashy" look I'm going for. I wish I had some pics of the trashy portion of my property with all of the mature walnuts on it. My problem seems to be the opposite of what L suggests though, I keep having to turn people away who want to pay me for the trees.

I love most trees except pines, and we have a ton of them in VA. and they will most certainly drive you nuts. Sap on the car, kills the grass, bad during storms especially the older ones, always clogging gutters phewey!!!

Luckily the immediate area I live not many grow 'cause it's mostly sand. Thank gosh.

Anything but a pine tree for property trees

I built this with my Power Trac PT425 last weekend... when you BX folks start getting ambitious, let me know.;)

Look, there's all kinds of stuff you can do with a small machine if you have the time. Really neat stuff. But be realistic when recommending a machine to someone. Ask them these questions:

1. What jobs do you need to do?
2. How much time do you have to do them?
3. What size machine will do those jobs in that amount of time?
4. Can you afford that machine?

Hey Mossroad that was pretty daggone funny!!! Unfortunately knowing that machine it's probably true.

That's not a lot of trees. Around here, we'd call that a field. :)

That's why I describe it as "park-like". There aren't enough trees to call it "wooded", but it's not quite open field either.

Here's the other property a couple hours south. Almost no trees, and not quite as flat!
I use the Ford 8N at this place, but I need a better hill-climbing tractor here!

How can you tell if you have the HD alternator vs the standard dynamo?
*********
The dynamo is a small diameter ,dark gray thing , the alternator looks like the typical small honda car alternator , silver in color
