Talk to dealer and tell him what you want it for. See if he will bring it out to your place for demo to see if it will do what you want. If it does, make the deal, if not, keep looking.

Taiser

I would go with the BX. I just picked one up myself a few weeks ago. I also have tons of small stumps like what you showed. I have dug out a bunch to date. No problems at all for the BX. Usually one or two swipes and its out. I was the on the same boat as you, if I went to a bigger tractor I would have not gotten a BH. From what I see, the BH is one of the most important attachments. For that reason I would go with the BX.

Hey Taiser, In the last 6 yrs a 76 home subdiv went up on my east and north side but my 2 neighbors to the west both raise horses and are in no mood to sell, at least not in the near future. And I'm not either :D

Yeah, the BX23 has worked out very well for me. I'd love to have a B3030 w/heat & air cab but it wouldn't fit in and around my many obstacles and I definitely don't want no-mo weed eat'n time :D

The BX24 now seems to be weaned from the few issues it came out with. The plastic foorpans have been reenforced so they should now hold up, just make sure you get the updated one. The ill fitting intake screens have been redesigned and fit as they should and there was a recall on loose fitting seat bolts that have been replaced with longer ones. Considering that this is the 1st yr of the new release BX24 those issues seem to be the only ones and have been addressed by Kubota. Even though the engine sports one more hp, it is still the same dependable powerplant thats been powering BX22's -BX23's for beau-coup yrs. Same HST too! The BH has alittle more reach and the hydraulics have 1 more gpm than the BX23.
Unless a very good deal can be had on a nearly new low hr BX23, I'd go new and break it in the way you want it :D

Good luck
Volfandt

OK I need to throw in my 2 cents. I have the bbaby of BXs (1500). I am continually amazed at what this machine will do. I was using my box blade this past weekend and with a little manipulation, popped out a 4" root, 6 ft long out of clay soil. Also, I wish people would not say the standard implements don't work on BXs because it is simply not true. The geometry on the older machines was lower, however you are looking at the new 23. This will handle standrad size implements with NO PROBLEM. I think given your needs and money, this would be a great choice for you. Estate tractor my a**. Those little things have guts.

I have no idea about "older machines" but I do know that the Kubota I had almost 18 years ago WOULD NOT and the new models Ive seen in the last 1 1/2 years DO NOT...otherwise equipment makers wouldnt be producing SMALLER impliments to fit them!! Go to TSC if no place else and MEASURE them!

Thats EXACTLY what I did. I didnt bother to have him drag a BX to my house...but he did stop here and looked over the "chores" I had in mine..and told me he'd sell me anything I wanted to buy...but recommended a tractor larger than the BX. Of course I had to give up the BH idea because of $$$...but Ive learned to live without it for this past year. Any "trenching" I need done...for now..I just hire it done ( lots cheaper than the COST of a BH!!) but will get one one of these days...if nothing more than just for the H*** of it...:)

What I cant outright shove over..I root out with the FEL ( and I dont even have teeth on the bucket) The lack of gross weight with a BX is one of their problems...you lose traction...just as with a B series if your doing REALLY serious work with...thats why I would never recommend a B series if I though someone REALLY needed a L series with more HP and greater weight.

I was sure Id never need my tractor as a "grass cutter" so the MMM wasnt even considered..( I have a perfctly fine "grass cutter" sitting in my garage)

The large capacity FEL...the heavier weight etc..is the reasons I went larger..and I STILL think the BX models are cuter than a young beagle pup!

Thanks for clearing that up for me and every other BX owner with full size implements. I had thought there was a possibility that I just imagined the past 2 years and 900 hours of using full size implements ... now I'm sure of it!

Homebrew, thank you chiming in. I happen to own a KK Box Blade because my geometry is lower on the 1500, however the new bx23 and bx24 have linkage that is a good deal higher than mine. I have seen plenty of pictures of bx23s and 24s that are pulling full sized BBs, box blades, PHDs etc.

I would go with the BX. I needed a tractor to landscape the backyard in my current house, then have something for my 20 acre lot to build trails, plant trees, and eventually mow. I decided to go with the BX because it came with the backhoe and HST. I also bought a post hole digger and a box scraper. I'm convinced it will do everything I need, but might take some extra time to do some projects. One big drawback out at the lot is ground clearance, but I bought I skid plate and haven't had any problems at all. Now if I can only talk the wife into a bush hog, tiller, and wood chipper.

Here is a pic with a rough before, during and after the yard project. 40 yds of topsoil, 700 feet of sprinkler pipe, 20,000 pounds of drain rock and 230 feet of fence.
