Is jobber price retail or wholesale?

Anyway, it seems like my prior experience at the same dealer, within 6 months and without any change I'm aware of in the overall price of synthetic motor oil, would be enough to make me think I don't have to expect a 60% price increase on my next service. I should also mention that they give a supposed written estimate but they never stick to it, and it didn't mention the price of oil or an overall price that would give me any reason to expect this charge.

I think for people who are experienced consumers of a type of product, it's reasonable to expect the price, if not stated, to be within the norm for that product or service in that area.

Jobber would be dealer cost.
This is from my very old and limited experience with automotive repair shops. I could easily be mistaken.

only a ripoff service joint would charge 339 dollars for what is obviously right around a $100 repair.
parts were $25, and that's reasonable
it's the 4 hours of labor that's unreasonable.

trust me, never going back again. ever. Anyone wants the name, feel free to PM me.
Beyond upset about it.

Perhaps this was the dealer's way of ensuring this outcome....

Doesn't matter now. Good luck with the new dealer LC!!

Never assume someone will do the right thing.

Sad as it may seem, in todays world, you have to assume someone will do the WRONG thing until they show evidence that they'll do otherwise. And then when you find that mechanic/dealer/salesman/ect that will go the extra mile, do it at a fair price, and leave you with a lasting GOOD impression, make EVERYONE aware of their good deeds.

I'd venture a guess the dealer holds a fair amount of anamosity towards Brian by this point, regardless of the fact Brian had a legitimate (series of) complaint(s). No doubt this entire episode has caused this dealer troubles with parent company, New Holland. Maybe the high price is his way of exacting "revenge". At any rate, it's time to part company.

I believe there is federal law regarding written estimates and how much the cost of the job can vary from it without calling you first to notify you and get your approval. Read the fine print on your estimate form and you may have just cause to request at least a refund of the amount in excess of the estimate. You will also serve notice that you won't tolerate any more price jacking just because they think you'll pay it.

Get a big sign, that says "BEWARE DEALER RIPPED ME OFF CHARGED $300 LABOR ON A FOUR HOUR JOB THAT SHOULD HAVE TOOK ONE" and stand out in front of the dealership for a couple hours.

Cowboy,

I have a pretty good idea which dealer you have been working with, based on your issues, and what I've heard about that dealer. Have you ever dealt with them before you got this current machine? I traveled an hour to another dealer (possibly the one you are now dealing with) to purchase and have service done, all of this when I lived in Boulder County.

I just can't believe you spent all that money and time dealing with those guys.

There are enough Colorado folks on here now that for future purchases, you can probably get some reliable recommendations on a decent dealer, and maybe some warnings on who to stay away from.

By the way, I can refer you to a good welder that works in Boulder County. I've used him for my house, and on my tractor, and he is very, very reasonably priced. As a matter of fact, I will miss not being able to use him now that I live a ways away.

apparantly I give people way too many chances
but you only have to beat me over the head 5 or 6 times with a baseball bat before I finally learn.

tail wheel picture attached.

Part of the difference is most of you might get 50 hours in all season.
I get a couple hundred in since June 1st (so far and it's just getting busier).

BTW, my 4 year old Massey Fergesun, no real issues, 400+ hours, and the same with the bushhog shredder. And that dealer that has worked on the MF, no issues.
You'd think I'd learn.

Except for the poor design on the rhino shredders, I'm beginning to see that almost all the issues trace back to this dealer's service department.

That tail wheel looks like one I saw that didn't have a toggle in top link and went in valley and put the load on tail wheel and front wheels.
Would that be possible?
