Well got the shaft and bearings apart......used an old motorcycle tire iron and screw driver to seperate them....just took time..slowing seperating them and spinning it around and putting pressure to seperate them as I went. I posted a few pictures that might help someone who has never done it.

Now I need some help getting out the seal...?? Any suggestions?? So far I have not budged it.

i just pried my old seal out with a screw driver........tore it up pretty good but didn't care. If you have a puller.....that would work as well. Once out.....make sure you put new seal in correctly......once it's in......the only way to get it out is to destroy it. Good luck......

Yes, that is about the only way to do it. I too destroyed my seal when I tore it out but heck, it was shot anyways.

Yea....took a screw driver and hammer and carefully beat the sleeve into the middle without damaging the sides.......then pulled it out.

Got my parts in today and will put it back together tomorrow.....hope that will stop the leaking!

Got a few projects I need to do this weekend that will need the fel.

Need a little help. I am trying to put the collar back on and finding it very challenging to say the least (without damaging it)....

Any body that has a better idea on how to get these on please let me know.

So far none of my ideas are working well.

Thanks,

Would it be possible to heat it and drop it on?

I am not 100% sure what you refer to so am taking a guess and say its in the picture where the jack stand is behind it and there is a screwdriver pointing or prying on it and is what the seal seals against/on yes?

If thats it I would find a pipe or sleeve that fit over the shaft and is smooth on the end that will be against the collar and just pound it with a hammer carefully make sure you stay tight against it or you may dent it up heat it if you have too and I would also sand the surfaces make sure no rust or high spots exist. If you do dent it and raise some metal a file ran carefully over just that spot will make it useable dont make any scratches in the seal surface area you know that already.

I tried to put it in hot water thinking it might expand with the heat...really did not get much help there....can get it on but really does not want to move at that point.....was using wd40 to help make it slide.

I thought about using something like armorall....thinking it might make the rubber slick enough to slide it up....

Always the concern is what damage down the road will do to any residue left under the collar (collar has a rubber seal underneath it) ....

Will look to see what i can come up with that I could slide up and pound the collar up.

Just to make myself clear ...it was the picture that had the screwdriver pushing against the collar. Will post a picture shortly of what I am trying to do.

I am beginning to catch up to you. If it has a rubber seal under it forget the heat method. Is it an o-ring? Any kind of lubricating oil won't hurt anything.

Here are a few pictures to get you an idea of what I am talking about....

I am thinking the armorall might be a good idea......any body got a reason not to do this?

Once it is on....the hub end (with the rubber sleeve and the shaft) will slide up into and over it...see previous pics.

Thanks
