Still alive & kicking ***. Love my power SSQA. My father-in-law popped a fuse last week before I told him to bounce the bucket/forks to settle them back before dropping the pins. Probably 3, maybe 4 popped fuses so far. May try to get a resettable breaker at some point, but paying a quarter for not paying attention is cheap insurance.

I was thinking more along the lines of Blade-Style Mini Fuse Breakers & just replacing the existing fuse with the breaker if it fit (forget if they are mini or micro fuses). If that wouldn't work, using something like Thermal Push Button Circuit Breakers or Switch Circuit Breakers & putting that right next to my existing toggle switch.

Not sure if an 8-10@ breaker would pop before a 15@ fuse though.

My biggest problem now is time & to many other projects. I either did a bad crimp or knocked loose the ground for the bucket cam & haven't had the time or energy to fix it in the past month. That wire has just been dangling near the brake pedals.

I still have at least 6 10@ fuses that fit left in the assortment of fuses I got for $5-8 or something a while back. Might get motivated once those run out, which will be a while if it's just me operating.

Thanks for the update.Hope the reset does the trick. With such a intermediate use of it I dont think it will be a problem..Everytime I have to get off and set my handles I think of your project here. But then I get to lazy to attempt it.LOL
I really think tractor producers are missing out on a good thing here. If they had something similiar Im sure they would sell..

I still envision a very small hydraulic motor combo.(like dump trucks have) that could be all one unit ,even the hydraulic cylinder could be part of it..
reasonably priced...

I love this project as well. I have a bucket, forks, and grapple. So one of these would be quite handy. However, after the grapple I have been deemed DONE with tractor stuff. So I'll have to wait a bit. :confused3:

I'm sure the breaker will pop as often as the fuse as I'll be using a 10@ breaker on a device rated to 15@. It just gives me a greater margin is safety to prevent the actuator from really torquing on something. And the breaker will take a couple seconds to reset rather than a few minutes to replace a $0.25 fuse.

Still have my first set of brackets for the smaller actuator if anybody wants to pay the postage to mail em. The more I use it the the more I realize fast operation is irrelevant to this setup.

It has been a wile. How is the SSQA doing? 1. Would 30-40 sec. one way time work? 2. Would 330 lb. $60.00 actuator ( 6 in ) do the job?

Still kicking ***.

30-40 seconds seems a hair slow, but would probably still be better than getting off to do it. Those $60ish 200-300lbs rated ones should only take 15 seconds, maybe 20 tops to actuate 6" though. If I ever do a 3rd version I'll probably go back to one of those cheap $60 200-300ish lbs rated ones rather than spend double for the nicer higher amperage one.

Linear Actuators | Progressive Automations has some nice ones, but their smaller ones that cost a little over $100 look just like the cheap no name Chinese ones you can get for under $60 (WINDYNATION 8 Inch 8" Stroke Linear Actuator 12 Volt 12V 225 Pounds lbs Maximum Lift (Includes Mounting Brackets): Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific for example for an 8" one). So far the cheap Chinese 200-300 lbs ones I'm using for other projects have been working just fine. I'll probably keep using those cheap Chinese no name ones.
