,,Gee, Kendall...ya trying to be a rabble rouser?

NO, I would love a thread to stay on point. The point of this thread was what pholt, purchased and why he purchased, and how he came to that conclusion.

Then the whole thread was taken over AS USUAL, by what’s made in America.

Now, what does what pholt said about his purchase have to do with what is or isn’t made in America.

People should be ashamed of themselves. A guy comes here to share his excitement, and finds himself DEFENDING his purchase with a pack of wolves. Next time you all buy something we'll be sure to pile on and make you defend your purchase.

..I agree it was mostly my fault, I like what I bought,

Absolutely NOT your fault pholt. I found your research quite enlightening, so much in fact that I just called the dealer, and will be going to look at the TYM 603 this week.

Dealer said fully loaded with a pro top and tilt Gannon box, and loader around 35k OR LESS.

So what you did was great, that’s that’s why I come here - not to hear what others yak about when they hijack your valuable info and start bloviating on the virtues of buying American ( insert Star Spangle banner theme song here )

I’m as American as the next guy, but that ship has left the dock, in 1974, never to return.

We all know nothing is 100% U.S.A., lets leave it at that and move on.

So, Pholt thanks for you valuable info.

Still have doubts...

PHolt,
just so you know, I liked your assessment that started all this. I went through a similar process before I bought my tractor last year. I loved the TYM's as well, but didn't have a dealer anywhere close, so I ended up with my Century (Branson). It's been a joy to use, much like I expect yours to be.
Don't be discouraged - there are a lot of good guys in this forum with good answers and advice. It's also a good place to brag about what you're doing with your new purchase. You just hit a nerve on this first post with some who have lost track of what the purpose is here on TBN - or at least what I thought the purpose was when I joined a year ago. Help the other guy out.

Any time you get more than 2 people exchanging opinions, you're going to end up with a fight on your hands. It doesn't mean the forum is a bad thing, you just have to take the other guys' opinions with a grain of salt.
I didn't hear you tell anyone else their machines were junk or that the one you picked was inherently better than theirs (or theirs inherently worse)becuase of the name plate on the front or the country of origin stamped on the side. You said: I looked at AB&C, compared XY&Z between them and came up with this choice.
Your "mistake" was to reply and hit a sore spot when someone else started in with: "I never buy from "fillinthe blank" because I won't buy something made in "country dujour" and pointed out to them that almost nothing is made with purely American parts any more. Again, opinions matter more to some folks than others.

Good luck and enjoy your new purchase - I'm sure it wil be of great service over the next several years!

Oh, and Kendall69 - I don't know you from Adam, but I appreciate your stance when wading in on this, as well!

I'm thinkin' that if some folks spend as much time on their tractors as they do on their keyboards, the tractors will need overhauls in less than 6 months....now, lets move on,,,no one needs to call Deere, no one needs to go to Korea to find out what's made where. Everyone makes their own decisions their own way. I know I did. BobG in VA

I was just sharing not trying to make people mad, but i dont take lightly to being called a lier. And I do not think I was biased towards any tractors. IF I had money to burn I probably would have bought the New Holland, since it did everything but wipe your butt.

Hey guys how about this. Why dont the moderators of this board put up a Fact or fiction section. I , well my Dad seriously knows a ton about this stuff and knows
many people behind Mahogany doors in this business, I can get the truthful answers to most of our questions, I love to know the real truth, not the
he said she said crap. My dad is in his 70's and has lots to share, he has lived the Farming and Oil boom in Tulsa, OK and has seen it all go by.

I inadvertently made a comment that ruffled feathers, but I hope we all learned something, we are not always right, now matter how firmly we believe or how much we know. I agree with Kendall, I am american through and through, but I gave up on that dream. The American Dream turned into the American Greed, even if it is made here, the parent company, is probably in Bora Bora so they dont pay taxes anyway. The America That my dad grew up in is gone.

Oh boy deere went China, I am leaving....

Deere's been international long time. Just an expansion into a new market.

Good thing? For the stock holders...but the erosion of manufacturing in the US is not a good thing. We'll pay for it sooner or later...

You ruffled feathers when you said Deere had tanked, which wasn't the case. Even during recessions, Deere survived in reasonably good shape (probably better then the automakers did, for the most part). And, I didn't see anyone wrote you were lying...maybe not really knowing what you're talking about sometimes...but not a liar.
As a subcontractor, we followed the ups and downs of the customers (Deere, Cat, Harley). I'm no longer with that company, but it's still in York and still doing well. And, still making product for Deere and Cat (others too, but those two are the biggies)

Kendall, I don't see at all where anyone bad mouthed the decison that pholt made. All that I did was point out some of the mistakes he made about Hitachi owning Deere etc. Other's pointed out the mistake he made about Mahindra being a Korean comany etc.

It sounds to me he made a good buying decision for himself, but that doesn't mean that you have to make a bunch of false claims about other companies at the same time. He isn't the only one that grew up around all kinds of machinery big and small. Saying John Deere doesn't make anything under 100hp here is just flat out wrong. Last time I checked all the lawn and garden equipment were made here and a considerable amount of the 4000 series was made in the U.S. Not that it really matters anyway. I just bought a Korean made car so I will buy whatever.

P.S. I see where Massey's name was brought up repeatedly. This former European founded Company now owned by the American based company Agco has most if not all of it's CUTS made by Iseki in Japan. Case/New Holland (owned by the Italian Fiat Group) CUTS are made in Japan by Shiburo(spelling?). All these companies are global companies now with parts and pieces made all over the place.

Now here you go calling me a Liar again, I said tractors, and there is no John deere tractors (TRACTOR) under 100 h.p. made in the USA, do not call me liar when you dont have a clue. And I said Hitachi ownes a Piece of Deere, and I heard it WAS LARGE, so I can not proove they do and you can not proove they dont, so were at an impass, your wrong I am wrong. I told you I thought on the Mahindra, and I was mistken on Case and IH. Someone built post war machines for Case or IH, in Korea, you find out, since you know everything I dont.

I am done arguing with foolish people, here is the contact for John Deere Corporate Engine works (yes only one of 3 in the world)
Here name is LYNETT DICKENSON The number is 319-292-5643
THIS IS THE DIRECT NUMBER TO JOHN DEERE ENGINE WORKS That you have no access to and I must have just GUESSED, IN WATERLOO IOWA, CALL IT, ASK GET CORRECTED, AND STOP TALKING.

DO NOT CALL ME A LIAR AGAIN. And do people especially new people on this site a favor, check your facts before you type. I am 100% right. Now stop. I prooved it just let it go. Make the call and be polite it is a business not myth busters, for gods sake. My dad is going to love me now. Giving some persona a non-published John Deere corporate number. Call it ask, post the truth and shutup.

And you bring Massey into it, did I say Massey was made here? NO, Did I ever NO. But I did say and stand behind that no John Deere (Tractor, not push mower lawn mower or blender)(this is tractorbynet, not lawnmowerbynet right)? under 100 h.p. is made (AND I HAVE DEFINED MADE SEVERAL TIMES) inside of the United States, call the number let the truth set you free, I see that only John Deere owners are upset, who CARES. Your cousin Bill did not make it.

but once John Deere was bought out by Hitachi, it was all over,

pholt, you seem to be a knowledgeable guy. You bought what you thought was best for your buck. But when making statements like that you really need to be careful how you word it.
